<tunixman>
wow, yeah, I know a guy who could have used that.
<tunixman>
open floor plan, "call center" the next table over, sales, all in a steel barn in Palo Alto.
<tunixman>
Also he basically typed just for the sake of typing.
<tunixman>
But that enclosure plus some decent headphones for him would probably have helped even though I was doomed to leave there anyway because I use Emacs sometimes.

<alexisvl>
oh god coulda used that back before $work went WFH
<alexisvl>
open plan office full of fuckin' keyboard nerds
<alexisvl>
if osha came in they'd have demanded hearing protection~
<tunixman>
oh god
<andlabs>
lol
<andlabs>
"look it's how the bossman knows everyone's working"
<andlabs>
(extremely 1920s brooklyn accent)
<alexisvl>
ha :)
<fseidel>
I love my Model M, but I also having cube neighbors that don't want to murder me, so it stays at home
<fseidel>
*love having
<andlabs>
I mean I could just bring in my Memotech MTX and use that instead
<andlabs>
your puny buckling spring stands no chance
<alexisvl>
the M _feels_ loud, IIRC in just pure amplitude it's actually pretty quiet compared to some of the keyboard nerd switches out there lol
<alexisvl>
I used to use mine at home but my fingers like the heavy weight less lately :p
<tunixman>
yeah... I got the soft linear quiet switches this time around.
<tunixman>
much easier to type on.
<tunixman>
but I never liked the full buckling spring experience anyway.
<andlabs>
and the memotech is tradiitional early 80s keyboard keys in a giant hollow metal case
<andlabs>
enjoy
<andlabs>
actually I wonder what's louder, a memotech or an all-metal IBM terminal keyboard
