Hello, I have a question. I want to add the ttf-dejavu font to my "core-image-x11" image. I have already added the following line to my bblayers.conf:

eminboydak if you read the backlog, you need to pick what style you want. the packages are called ttf-dejavu-sans etc (oe-pkgdata-util can tell you the list of packages that resulted from a recipe build)
<jclsn>
Is there some way I can forcefully turn off the CONFIG_GENERIC_CMOS_UPDATE which is set as a dependency of CONFIG_X86 in the yocto-kernel-cache? I think this is conflicting with the newer CONFIG_RTC_SYSTOHC driver
<jclsn>
I tried to turn this config entry off, but it is not possible it seems

Oh this is a dependecy in the kernel cfg. Nevermind
<eminboydak>

I have what HOPEFULLY will be a simple question and I'm just missing something... I'm trying to update my IMAGE_INSTALL_append to include lmsensors (ideally lib32-lmsesnsors... Because Reasons), and I can definitely bitbake lmsensors, but when I try to build my image, I see it build it but then at the end it spits out "nothing provides lmsensors"
<applepi>
and I don't understand why
<applepi>
What could I be missing? I'm a yocto yellow belt at best, but I don't get this at all

RP I thought of that but I couldn't find the original hash to confirm if the files were the same. I will reach out to the meta-sca directly and see if this can be patched upstream.

<marex>
rjones2: or update to a newer version of the recipe ?
<applepi>
Lost internet for a bit inf anyone responded and I missed it
<marex>
applepi: look at the PACKAGES that lmsensors recipe provides , maybe you need to install a subset of those because lmsensors package is empty and not generated ?
<marex>
applepi: try and install lmsensors-fancontrol for example
<marex>
rjones2: $ git show origin/kirkstone:recipes-sca/checkbashism-native/checkbashism-native_2.23.6.bb | grep -i sha
<rjones2>
marex RP thanks for showing me this method, I wasn't aware of this.
<khem>
DvorkinDmitry: setting expiry on root passwd ? you might have to edit /etc/shadow file for susequent accounts setting /etc/login.defs to have PASS_MAX_DAYS <number> could set the policy
<DvorkinDmitry>
khem, ok. clear. what about useradd.class?
<DvorkinDmitry>
I mean, may I do something same for the user created in recipe?
<khem>
I think that class is not invoking anything other than underlying useradd programs functionality
<khem>
you can enahance it perhaps
<DvorkinDmitry>
khem, no shadow file created when using useradd.class
<khem>
it should happen at the image creation time
<applepi>
marex - that seems (?) to be it, thank you so much, I would never have figured that out on my own.. I'm getting some issues with apparently it rebuilt logind and some other things in lib32 now and I'm not sure what that's about but I'm way closer to where I was
<applepi>
er, than where I was
<applepi>
actually it seems to have selected and trying to build a bunch of things in lib32.. weird
<khem>
applepi: once you have built the recipe and then want to find out a given binary you need on target then oe-pkgdata-util find-path "*/fancontrol" e.g. this will find the out package name (ipk/rpm) that you can add to IMAGE_INSTALL
<khem>
usually there is an output package usually that is same name as recipe but thats not given several recipes divide the content into individual packages for keeping things small
<applepi>
khem - I added lib32-lmsensors-dev lib32-lmsensors and lmsensors-sensorsdetect to the IMAGE_INSTALL_append
<khem>
building stuff when you build lib32-xxx is normal since it has to build all the dependencies to be able to run this binary ( 32bit runtime (
<khem>
applepi: yeah that will do it
<khem>
although adding -dev means you will be pulling in development headers and libs into image which you may not want
<applepi>
Yeah I'm not sure why it needs lib32-systemd and all that for this
<applepi>
The libraries are desired, yes.. I'm basically just maintaining a board for someone else's project, they do the code and need libsensor in m32
<applepi>
Hm lmsensors inherits systemd and update-rc, ugh.
<applepi>
They really just need the libs

hi all
<johndunet>
I'm trying to install Docker on my Yocto project, but I'm having trouble configuring the kernel (Yocto Linux) correctly. Specifically, I can't get the veth module to load. I have enabled it in menuconfig, but after building the kernel and the image, it is still missing from my system.
