<Suhler> Hey all, quick questions: I'm trying to patch a file that's brought in by a bbappend from a different layer than the bbappend, is that something that's possible?
servodude has joined #yocto
<Suhler> So I have iptables from oe, which is appended and a file is added so the src by a bbappend in layer x, and I want to patch that file from layer x in layer y
<Suhler> Is that possible?
sakoman has joined #yocto
<servodude> hi
<servodude> I'm trying to append a recipe in a new layer
<servodude> Both my .bbappend and the original recipe have a /git folder
<servodude> Only my new one appears to be unpacked in do_unpack - which leads to problems in the do_configure
<servodude> Patches in the original recipe are found and applied correctly
<servodude> Any suggestions?
<Suhler> I get to the point of committing the patch in the iptables recipe after making my edits and making sure the change is built and there's no changes to commit according to git

<MauroAnjo> Using useradd bbclass when creating user with openssl hashed password I'm getting an error "openssl: command not found", openssl is present, I even placed it as a RDEPENDS to test, and nothing changed
<MauroAnjo> same script works on armv8 64bits, but fails on armv7 32
zpfvo has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
zpfvo has joined #yocto
<Guest9659> MauroAnjo: doesn't need that to be openssl-native and need to be added to DEPENDS, instead of RDEPENDS - I'm assuming you are doing the hashing at buildtime and not on the target itself, right?
<MauroAnjo> right, using USERADD_PARAM and passing command line options like: "-g dev -G sudo -d /home/username -s /bin/sh -p `openssl passwd passwordtext` username;"
<MauroAnjo> you were right openssl-native did the trick :)
<MauroAnjo> but I did not understand why on the other build conf (same recipes) this script worked without DEPENDS on a 64bit machine
<Guest9659> likely some other dependency injects openssl-native for 64bit targets
<MauroAnjo> yeah, probably, thanks a lot :)

<oberonc> which recipe does it come from ?

<oberonc> ok, thanks

<Guest9659> and just in case you can always run `oe-pkgdata-util find-path "*/nmcli"` (or whatever binary you are looking for) to get the providing package

<RP> kroon: I think += looks much nicer too
<kroon> RP, so do I. so there is both technical *and* aesthetical reasons for preferring += over :append when possible ?
<kroon> at least how I thought it worked was that for the append's bitbake would have to keep all of them in memory, while the += could be evaluated and then forgotten, more or less

<RP> kroon_: yes, there are aesthetic reasons too
<RP> kroon_: that is technically true, += is handled immediately with the main value of the variable rather than held separately like appends are

<jaskij[m]> <fbre> "Hi! Do you know if there is..." <- Don't think there's anything in Yocto itself, but you start with configuring the watchdog in the device tree (might need defconfig changes). As for using it from userspace, I only know that systemd supports it (and can in turn be used as a sort of watchdog for your software), http://0pointer.de/blog/projects/watchdog.html.
