milkylainen: Adding signatures uses new property names, so adds to the string table, but this adding is done after the signature has been calculated. So I would expect that the string table will grow when writing the first signature. For subsequent config nodes it can use the existing property names, so that table does not grow further
<sjg1>
qschulz: Thank you for the comments. I will take a look, likely in a few weeks

sjg1: Ok. But why does the first signature change when resigning?
<milkylainen>
Same key.
<milkylainen>
Ie. Already signed. Resigning with the same key.
<Forty-Bot>
timestamp updated?
<milkylainen>
Forty-Bot: Sure. It changes the timestamp when resiging.
<milkylainen>
It changes for all the config nodes.

<calebccff>
marex: forgive me, what did you mean with "just... *sigh*" regarding dwc3 dual role stuff? if it's a topic you just don't want to deal with i totally get that, just want to be sure...
<calebccff>
on a different note, has the topic of supporting the EFI absolute pointer protocol been discussed before?
<calebccff>
I've always had this stupid child-like glee for the idea of having a bootloader with touchscreen support... and the other day i was able to do a proof of concept for this on one of the Qualcomm phones
<calebccff>
it's totally an individual effort from me, but I'm wondering if I should try and pursue this in a way that could be upstreamed, of if folks would rather not deal with it
<xypron>
calebccff: First step would be to provide an USB mouse driver for U-Boot.
<xypron>
Do you have a spwcigic EFI applucation in mind to consume the protocol?

xypron: rEFInd supports touch screens, but i would probably add support to systemd-boot
<marex>
calebccff: I am switching between too much stuff
<marex>
calebccff: it might take a bit until I get to this
<calebccff>
xypron: mouse uses the normal pointer protocol, not the absolute one
<calebccff>
marex: no problem at all, not meaning to pile more things up. i have plenty else to be getting on with and i can work around this in board code
<calebccff>
so you're not blocking anything
<calebccff>
xypron: anyways surely there are many more potential users with touchscreens than with USB ports right?
<calebccff>
shame every damn i2c touchscreen has to NIH the protocol so they can add their own "value"
<xypron>
Anyway we need the DM drivers first.
<calebccff>
yeah
<xypron>
I guess you could put the absolute pointer protocol also on top of a mouse device.
<calebccff>
the EFI protocol is simple, it just allows apps the get the current state of the pointer (coords, pressed state, etc)
<calebccff>
xypron: we can probably support both protocols, and have a "touchpad" emulation mode
<calebccff>
... eventually
<calebccff>
if i just wrote the bare minimum to export the protocol and expect drivers to implement a "get_state" callback would that be enough?
<calebccff>
at least the one touchscreen i tested buffers the last known state internally... probably some will need polling though
<calebccff>
can we poll when running an EFI app?
<xypron>
Yes, at different places we already handle resetting the hardware timer and execute timer events.
