Hrm. Trying to get yard to tell me what isn't documented. It gives me stats but I can't figure out how to get the objects that don't have docs.
<bougyman>
like: % yard doc
<bougyman>
Files: 15
<bougyman>
Modules: 5 ( 2 undocumented)
<bougyman>
Show me which Modules aren't documented.
<bougyman>
tried --verbose, --debug, and looking at docs for something I might have missed. Coming up empty.

Wow, literally no chatter in here.
<adam12>
bougyman: O_O
<rapha>
did make a (laze, admittedly) attempt
<adam12>
bougyman: how goes
<adam12>
The Discord is busy, but I find it near impossible to keep on top of. I actually prefer the slow-ish pace of this chan.
* rapha
sometimes wishes discord and the likes would never have emerged and caused this mass exodus of irc tho
<bougyman>
hey hey adam. Damn I hate discord.
<bougyman>
All of the cryptocurrency projects live there, too. or worse: Telegram.

I just dislike all the themed Discord channels. The Ruby one has over a dozen. Lots of mental bookkeeping. Then each server usually has another dozen. You could be juggling a hundred channels in no time.
<adam12>
I have 18 IRC channels in my client, of a specific theme, with only a few as social. Much easier to track and less mental bookkeeping.
<adam12>
Zulip was a bit better (ie the dry-rb chat).
<comeoooon>
It's so easy to register new nicknames with Tor nodes on Discord
<comeoooon>
Causes a bunch of trolls to pretend to be entire groups of people in order to systematically bully others
<comeoooon>
Bully and bully -- they do it because they're jealous, and when asked to provide their real names and selfies they usually disappear

What you guys think of Slack then?
<comeoooon>
How does it compare in size to Discord?
<rapha>
slack's really business-y, isn't it? and discord more game-y?
<comeoooon>
Ah I see
* comeoooon
is banned from the Slack :lol:
<comeoooon>
One of the owners stole my logo and one day he had his peers gang up on me
<rapha>
o_O\
<comeoooon>
This was while I wanted to further help him with his website layout (driftingruby.com)
<comeoooon>
I might have had a bit too much to drink that evening, but they saw it as an opportunity to get rid of me once and for all
<comeoooon>
Normal people never act like that in real life. But most of these Slack and Discord people grew up in front of their computer screens.
<comeoooon>
This is why so many prominent members of the Ruby community leave IRC and other chats altogether.
<rapha>
hmm
<rapha>
i've never been treated wrong in here, not even by a long shot
<rapha>
sad if slack and discord give even irc a bad image

I dislike Slack too, but that's only because in a business setting, I'd rather everything be on Basecamp. Less sync chat, more long form discussions.
<adam12>
But that's not common in my experience.
<adam12>
If everyone worked the Rework style, I'd be a happy consultant.

The ruby-talk mailing list is out of control tho, which is sad because it's OG and I'm not sure where everyone would disperse to, causing more fragmentation.

<rapha>
doubtful many people in europe have even heard of basecamp ... more of a US thing i think
<rapha>
what's a Rework style, adam?
<leah2>
eh? sure techies in .eu know basecamp
<rapha>
or perhaps i don't know enough techies outside my little DH bubble then
<rapha>
or perhaps Germany is different in that regard from other, esp. more English-o-phile places in Europe
<adam12>
I actually meant Shape Up, not Rework. But they are both similar, and both from Basecamp. https://basecamp.com/shapeup
<adam12>
(Rework is a good book too, but not the methodology I'm talking about)
<rapha>
hmm ... so it's about shipping ... i've never worked in a team that builds software which could said to be shipping in any way, shape, or form. but i'd sure like my next job to be something where i can work as part of a _team_, not always just the lonely wolf who has to figure things out on his own.
<adam12>
Yes. I'm conflating both a bit. Shape Up is shipping and is kinda project agnostic, but it uses Basecamp examples.
<rapha>
interesting
<adam12>
For me, more specifically, a lot of companies would be better just having _everything_ in Basecamp. Chat, calendars, task management, long-form discussions, files.
<rapha>
i do wonder, if the internet just *poof* disappeared, would the world have completely forgotten how to build software?
<adam12>
For a flat $99/month, it replaces Dropbox, Google Drive, Slack, and a ton of other things. I have one saying around here: it's in Basecamp, because it is.
<adam12>
Anyways, Shape Up & Rework advocate long-form discussion over instant chat, which eliminates Slack / video calls in almost every scenario.
<rapha>
and then ofc there's the problem with basecamp being something that won't work on-premises (like so many other pieces of what essentially becomes infrastructure)
<adam12>
We're borderline OT here so maybe should move to -offtopic...
<rapha>
whoops
<rapha>
true
<adam12>
I don't particularly care if we move tho. Since nobody else is conversing.
<rapha>
but also true that it's 7 PM and i'm pretty wasted and should get home and eat something
<rapha>
will keep the Shape Up website open tho and peek into the example chapters tomo
