<rapha>
what does \A\z mean?
<nakilon>
rapha beginning of the String and end of it, so the /\A\z/ is effectively a ""
<nakilon>
I mean an empty string
<nakilon>
ffs, adam12 remember we saw the huuuuge google sdk gem?
<nakilon>
I pull requested one patch on googleauth gem so I decided to "bundle update", and guess what -- they now depend on activesupport
<nakilon>
that pulls even more useless stuff
<nakilon>
the ridiculous thing is that the activesupport is a dependency of google-apis-generator that should be a dev dependency as I suppose
<nakilon>
oh, the google-apis-generator is a dependency of google-api-client that informs on install that it's going to be deprecated, so maybe I can deprecate it right now somehow...
<nakilon>
lol this gem name: google-apis-gmail_v1
<nakilon>
and my patch does not longer work because they've started depending on another gem via monkeypatching...

even worse, they force pushed something and got deleted exactly my previous tag from the branch...
<rapha>
oh
<rapha>
so \A == ^ and \z == $

rapha no, ^ and $ are triggered on \n even in the middle of the String

hi, is there an efficient way to have a "view" into a string that reuses the buffer? like if i want to work with a whole string besides the first byte, i can use str[1..-1], but this is slow since it creates a new whole new string.
<nakilon>
cahoots not sure if it will make your things faster but I suppose StringIO has methods for that

hi, im trying to get some code to run that uses a mysql2 connection string, like "mysql2://root:password@127.0.0.1/database", but there seems to be a problem with the encoding, the error looks like "Mysql2::Error: Incorrect string value: '\\xF0\\x9F\\x98\\x8E\\xC2\\xA0...' for column `motor`.`motor_configs`.`value` at row 1"
