<Guest62> what clipboard does riverwm use and can i pipe something into it via terminal?
<FireFly> you can use wl-copy and wl-paste
<FireFly> I think the clipboard stuffs is kinda separate from the compositor maybe? not sure exactly how it works..
<FireFly> seems the binaries are provided by wl-clipboard, at least in nixpkgs, dunno about other package repositories
<Guest62> im on stock river and havent installed anything but have a working clipboard. so i guess its build in.
<waleee> open firefox and check if you can actually paste anything from it/to it
<Guest62> works fine
<FireFly> it might be something that wlroots manages perhaps
<Guest62> ok
<FireFly> anyway, pipe into wl-copy and it should end up in the clipboard
<Guest62> with hyprland and other wm i never had this build in clipboard.
<Guest62> was just suprised
<FireFly> curious, isn't hyprland also wlroots-based?
<Guest62> yeah it is
<FireFly> I'd have thought that part should work the same
<FireFly> I think it did under hikari at least
<Guest62> maybe its new or something
<Guest62> but i know under hyprland and wayfire it didnt work for me and i had to install wl-clipboard
<FireFly> and not just to pull in wl-copy/wl-paste?
<Guest62> no they didnt had a clipboard at all
<Guest62> i was very suprised when i installed hyprland first time and werent able to copy stuff
<Guest62> but in river it worked out of the box.
<ifreund> Clipboard is part of the core wayland protocol and implemented by river
<ifreund> wl-clipboard is just a wayland client
<Guest62> a ok
<Guest62> weird because i was pretty sure that i wasnt able to copy and paste when i was using hyprland
