<roiz> so i'm just getting started with wayland and river, coming from x and bspwm. thanks for making a similar window manager.
<roiz> i'm experiencing an odd issue. i use a laptop, and when actually _clicking_ the touchpad in order to send a mouse click, it sometimes behaves as expected, but at other times, seems like it isn't registering, or more likely doing what it does fairly often: pasting from some clipboard registry that appears to align with text i've selected. this is
<roiz> really odd, regularly impedes my workflow, and the only reason i'm thinking river is at fault is because it crosses application boundaries. this doesn't occur when i tap-to-click, only when physically clicking the touchpad.
<roiz> has anybody seen something remotely similar to this,or have any thoughts on what i should be debugging here?

<leon-p> roiz: middle clicking pastes selection
<leon-p> maybe your touchpad is configured to middle click, either by tapping in the center bottom or by tapping with three fingers

<roiz> leon-p: _tap_ functionality actually works as expected
<roiz> i just found my issue, though
<roiz> apparently my touchpad has three different button/regions for physical clicks that left, middle, and right click
<roiz> and for the past two years that i've had this machine running under arch, i've never noticed that, probably because x was somehow treating all three as a left click
<roiz> when i physically press to click (not tap), i'm usually pressing around the bottom left/center out of habit. i guess i'm hitting the bottom center too often.
<LarstiQ> that might be configurable?
<roiz> yeah i'm looking into it now
<LarstiQ> riverctl mentions `tap-button-map` and `middle-emulation`, not sure if that is related enough
<roiz> you have it backwards
<roiz> _tapping_ works fine
<roiz> it's the physical presses that i want to reconfigure
<roiz> at the bottom of the trackpad
<roiz> the actual "buttons" (i have a single layer touchpad/trackpad with hidden buttons, you know, how most modern manufacturers are doing touchpads)

<roiz> maybe i'm crazy and never physically clicked under arch. /shrug
<roiz> er, under x

<roiz> hmm
<roiz> so for libinput under x11, i had `Option "ClickMethod" "clickfinger"`
<roiz> yeah, okay, that's what makes my touchpad act as i expect (basically, the physical buttons are ignored and the whole touchpad is treated as a touch interface)
<roiz> setting `riverctl input <name> click-method clickfinger` solves my issue
