<ghostbuster>
hmm i logged into river today and i can only open windows that take up the middle 1/3rd of my screen, and all seem to overlap each other.. the keybind for toggling float doesn't seem to fix it
<pkap>
ghostbuster: Sounds like your layout generator is not running.
<ghostbuster>
hmm ps ajfx | grep rivertile shows no results
<ghostbuster>
ran it manually and now I see it running but no effect on my floating windows
<pkap>
Hm, maybe the layout name is not set? `riverctl default-layout rivertile`
<ghostbuster>
hmm that didn't do anything either
<ghostbuster>
let me poke at it a bit, i found an error in the log

<ghostbuster>
hmm i think i am significantly out of date.. i was using the river-noxwayland-git in aur and i think it's been abandoned
<novakane>
what does river -version return?
<pkap>
AUR *-git packages usually build from master so this shouldn't matter, no?
<ghostbuster>
novakane: 0.2.0-dev-0bdf348
<novakane>
it is a bit outdated yeah
<novakane>
it should still works fairly good though
<novakane>
and I agree with pkap it clearly sounds like a problem with the layout generator
<ghostbuster>
oh i fixed it.. of course it was the only change i made to my init script
<ghostbuster>
i fixed it by commenting out this line above where the init script sets the default-layout: swayidle timeout 60 'wlopm --off \*' resume 'wlopm --on \*'
<novakane>
you probably need to use 'riverctl spawn swayidle...'
<novakane>
in the log you also have a unknown riverctl command in your config
<ghostbuster>
yeah i saw that.. i guess i can use set +x at the top to see what line is erroring
<ghostbuster>
-x i mean
<novakane>
share your config if you want
