Wanda[cis]: Jeez, sorry this happened to you :'-(

When a technical person loses adjacency on their work, not only is the quality dropping but burn out is right around the corner
* mupuf
had been warned about it but thought it wasn't that bad and subsequently burned out
<mupuf>
The only way I could work on automated validation after that was to properly solve the problem from the ground up
<whitequark[cis]>
unfortunately, management is usually incompetent

whitequark[cis]: I see you are quite politically correct here ;) I think management should be about creating the best work environment possible, nothing else. There should not be career paths requiring "owning" teams (to make yourself look good and get promoted) as it breads internal competition rather than collaboration. In other words, middle management shouldn't exist: No matter how smart they think they are as they are too removed from
<mupuf>
the technical challenges and too removed from the board to be of any value. All they do is try to enrich themselves at the expense of the company.</rant></offtopic>

<Wanda[cis]>
oh cool I found another ISE bug by comparing the bitstream databases extracted from ISE XC4000E and XACT XC4000
<Wanda[cis]>
it's amazing how many straight-up typos there are in the bfd files
<Wanda[cis]>
okay I'm done with XC4000H now, I think
<Wanda[cis]>
and also with XC4000
<Wanda[cis]>
I like the design I came up with for the XACT reversing tools. so much better then the thing I did for ISE.
<Wanda[cis]>
I guess the months of experience gained dealing with ISE were quite helpful
<Wanda[cis]>
... I'm a little tempted to try hooking up Diamond now to see how it fares on a more complex target, but ... better not now
<Wanda[cis]>
and done with XC4000A; time for XC2000
