10:57 <Haohmaru> and if you're unfortunate enough, that pickit3 might have been used previously to flash a pic16f, so now as you're trying to flash a pic12f - the java CLI app has to change the pickit3's firmware, which takes even more time

"production programmers", so IMO this is a strategy, when you deal with 2 kinds of pics - you'd think of buying another pickit3 just so you don't have to wait for the pickit3 to change its firmware all the time, and then when you gotta flash a ton of chips - you'd have to buy one of the $$$ programmers
