< naywhayare> zoq: I read today that only six teams have submitted to the OSS Award challenge
< naywhayare> we submitted mlpack to it one year but didn't win
< naywhayare> your visualization is really cool, and I wonder if it could win something if it got polished up a bit

< zoq> naywhayare: ah right the 'prison' challange ... I guess it's worth a second try.
< zoq> The plan is to write two more demos for the recurrent neural network (distracted sequence recall task, reber grammar). But you are right the mnist demo needs some polishing.

< naywhayare> zoq: why is it called the prison challenge? maybe I missed the joke :)
< naywhayare> you mentioned that your server is a little bit slow for running the demos... maybe I can provide some better system
< naywhayare> one of the build hosts or something like that
< zoq> naywhayare: isn't this the challenge with the Chinese instructions which could mean anything ... something like we own you and if you're not cooperate with us we come and take what's ours
< zoq> The performance depends on the number of jobs currently active, which is limited right now to the number of cores which should be 8. But it would be nice to outsource the demo.
< naywhayare> zoq: ah, okay. beautiful.cc.gt.atl.ga.us has only 4 cores and 5GB of RAM (weird number for RAM... I wonder why that is)
< naywhayare> but it's not currently being used, so we could disconnect it from Jenkins temporarily and run your simulation
< naywhayare> you should be able to log into it using your shoeshine credentials since it's all the same LDAP/Kerberos authentication setup
< naywhayare> and I think as a user you could run a web server on port 8080, or I can give you privileges to run on port 80 (your choice)
< naywhayare> and now I remember about the really dubious instructions for the OSS Award, I'd forgotten about that :)
< zoq> great, can you install opencv on the machine?
< naywhayare> yeah, hang on
< naywhayare> okay, installed opencv 2.4.9 plus python bindings... let me know if you need anything else
< zoq> great, Thanks!
