<f_> chewitt: Hi. It's been a while. Hope you read this in the chat logs. I wrote a wiki page ( https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Videostrong_KII_Pro_(videostrong-kii-pro)/DVB ), documenting the DVB hardware found on the videostrong kii pro.
<f_> I found out that it actually uses an Availink AVL6862TA demod + a RafaelMicro R912 tuner.
<f_> The problem is, I didn't find as much documentation about the R912 tuner as I did with the demod.
<f_> The demod has drivers, which will (apparently) be soon upstreamed.
<f_> But all I found about the tuner was old drivers used by CoreELEC and that's about it.
<HackerKkillinghi> Hey
<HackerKkillinghi> F
<HackerKkillinghi> We might able to take a old driver or a wip mainline driver for dvb and hack it to linux-postmaketos-amlogic via patch
<f_> HackerKkillinghi: I'd like not to do that..
<f_> That is, taking a downstream driver and using it.
<f_> And I don't even think it's possible -- the downstream drivers use a lot of stuff from the Amlogic downstream kernel. If we want to use those, we have to modify them a lot and I don't think they can land upstream.
<f_> But we can use the downstream driver to write a better driver that could eventually land upstream.
<f_> HackerKkillinghi: Also
<f_> Those 3 DTS patches are about to get dropped.
<f_> The 3 KII Pro DTS patches.
<f_> They got merged into linux-next (IIRC) and they'll eventually land in a brand new linux release.
<f_> Which means we can drop them once that happens.
<HackerKkillinghi> So
<HackerKkillinghi> the tree for your kii pro wil get dropped
<HackerKkillinghi> *will be dropped
<f_> s/tree/patches/
<f_> Yup, when they'll land in a new release.
<f_> When they'll land in a new stable linux release, the patches in the package directory would be quite useless, so we'll drop them.
<f_> *After upgrading, of course.
<HackerKkillinghi> Oh
<HackerKkillinghi> So your kii pro's aduio will work in linux next
<f_> s/next/stable/
<f_> Yup, as well as bluetooth.
<HackerKkillinghi> ok
<f_> You should really consider upstreaming your Mi Box 3 DTS.
<f_> So that it lives on, forever.
<HackerKkillinghi> Actually
<HackerKkillinghi> I tried to upsteam a amlogic patch
<HackerKkillinghi> again the bt will work with out the patch
<f_> When the patch for it will land upstream, yes.
<HackerKkillinghi> i mean the patch is just making the bt implementation better
<HackerKkillinghi> so the patch isnt for making your bt work
<f_> Did it get merged?
<HackerKkillinghi> Idk
<f_> Did you provide your real name?
<HackerKkillinghi> No
<f_> Then I think it didn't get merged at all..
<f_> You need to provide your real name if you want to contribute to Linux IIRC.
<HackerKkillinghi> Oh u are talking about my patch
<f_> Yeah.
<HackerKkillinghi> It get suck in the mailing list
<f_> s/suck/stuck/ ?
<HackerKkillinghi> Yes
<HackerKkillinghi> I need some people approval my mail
<f_> Yeah you need to provide your real name.
<f_> And you need to sign-off.
<f_> `git commit -s`
<HackerKkillinghi> Help
<HackerKkillinghi> f_:
<f_> I'm sorry but I can't do anything about it.
<f_> I never contributed to Linux.
<HackerKkillinghi> Ah
<HackerKkillinghi> That is uboot
<HackerKkillinghi> hey f_
<HackerKkillinghi> This the scenario of my mail
<HackerKkillinghi> It has stucked
<f_> Ok
<f_> I can't do anything about it, sorry.
