<geraldog> web.libera.chat is down so I had to give old hexchat a go
<geraldog> narmstrong: I dumped those registers you asked for
<geraldog> [145658.637513] dw-hdmi: HDMI_CONFIG0_ID: 0xbf / HDMI_CONFIG1_ID: 0x62 / HDMI_CONFIG2_ID: 0xf3
<geraldog> [145658.637518] dw-hdmi: HDMI_CONFIG3_ID: 0x0
<geraldog> narmstrong: They were dumped with printk() from inside dw_hdmi_i2s_hw_params()
<narmstrong> Ok thx
<geraldog> narmstrong: My pleasure. Thanks immensely for caring
<narmstrong> geraldog: no prob, will look at the bits and see if I find something interesting

<geraldog> narmstrong: but if GPAUD was really enabled, HDMI_CONFIG3_ID should be set to 0x01 because in the RM
<geraldog> TRM, they cite configgpaud as bit 0 and set to 1 if enabled. It's page 169 of RK3399TRM
<geraldog> and I'm dumping the values from inside dw_hdmi_i2s_hw_params() this seems like regular I2S narmstrong
<geraldog> And looks what the RK3399 TRM says on page 254
<geraldog> It says, that if insert_pcuv bit is disabled, incoming audio stream must contain the PCUV bits, mapped according to the Databook
<geraldog> narmstrong: I assume when they say Databook what they are really referring to is IEC 60958-1
<geraldog> Beats me what the purpose is in introducing a bit that breaks HDMI sound most of the time
