hello
<castokadru>
I have posted a post in the forum but its not visable because i registered today. Could someone make it visable? I have driven to older people to try to fix their LibreELEC issues but when not even the forum post gets online i dont expect to fix anything after the long ride
<castokadru>
Its a regression issue on generic x86_64 updated from LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-10.0.4.img.gz to LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-11.0.3.img.gz

chewitt - thanks for enabling the forum post
<castokadru>
should i repost the same to https://forum.libreelec.tv/board/8-general-support/ ? Because the person reported the issue months ago was using a development version of libreelec. I am using the stable version.
<LEBot>
[slack] <chewitt> nope .. one post is enough thanks

[slack] <chewitt> Just so you know .. the people most likely to reply (mods) can all see your post(s)
<LEBot>
[slack] <chewitt> once is enough
<LEBot>
[slack] <chewitt> if you wallpaper the forum with little tidbits all pointing to your issue it usually has a counterproductive effect
<LEBot>
[slack] <chewitt> as those users generally turn out to be high-maintenance, and people find something easier to help with

I know that regressions have to be mentioned as such in foss-projects at the release-posts. Its different when some new added functionality is broken for some usecases then if some old functionality suddenly stop working in a new release.
<castokadru>
I am still sitting here trying to help with the issue. I have no idea what to do now. Anyone have any idea what i could try out to fix the issue?

hello any folks hacking / re-compiling their libreelec distro? curious to know what youre working on or packages integrating etc...
<tuxrage>
what the process is of testing/adding packages is you doing etc.. whats good community
<tuxrage>
like for example, you build/flash libreelec stable... and the packages upstream of this release is different, eg; missing tigervnc
<tuxrage>
sorry, i meant to say, if you build/flash nightly, you misssing tigervnc.... where is the package differences published for nightly vs. stable?
<tuxrage>
when you make/edit changes in your working directory, to fix or make packages, where how can you release publish packages or do you upload and install? thanks in advance, happy sunday
<LEBot>
[slack] <jernej> tuxrage: just in case, if you want to install tigervnc, that won't work, unless you want it on Generic Legacy image
<tuxrage>
yes thats what im working with a coreboot x86-64/generic build.. i plan to fix this package / dependencies and then add additional things if i can
<tuxrage>
<LEBot>
[slack] <jernej> changes between stable and nightly can be seen by comparing stable and master branch
<tuxrage>
but where / how packages are published?
<tuxrage>
i come from the openwrt world so i... i assume its separated some how?
<LEBot>
[slack] <jernej> either are built-in or as part of an addon
<LEBot>
[slack] <jernej> there is no package manager per se
<tuxrage>
in openwrt, you can select packages to compile as an addon .ipk file, or built in, (installed in the image)
<tuxrage>
but then to publish, you publish the .ipkg to a remote https server and edit /etc/dpkg.conf (eg; /etc/apt/sources....)
<LEBot>
[slack] <jernej> no, it doesn't that way
<tuxrage>
ok.. i'll take a look more , if you say its possible to build-in, then i'll explore further
<LEBot>
[slack] <jernej> yeah, you can add it as a dependency to some other package and it will be included
<tuxrage>
ok.. i will continue to retry with this dep , eg; core depeds on <mypkg> ?
<LEBot>
[slack] <jernej> or add it to ADDITIONAL_PACKAGES variable in project settings

<tuxrage>
aah sick, let me explore these globals,, i have readhing/research to do. honestly, the tigervnc is a minor fix, surprised nobody took credit for it yet no?
<tuxrage>
re: measure twice, cut once
<LEBot>
[slack] <jernej> in any case, read readme and package templates in packages folder
<LEBot>
[slack] <jernej> they are there for a reason 🙂
