<k-man> is it possible to install mame on the rpi under libreelec?

<mack> kodi already supports libretro natively and has menus and all, k-man. It is functionally the same as mame and uses the same rom images.
<k-man> oh... libretro... i was searching for the wrong thing
<mack> I didn't answer your question earlier, since I assumed you had googled it by then :)
<k-man> thanks
<k-man> thank you for the pointer
<k-man> i was so focused on "mame" i couldn't find it. will read futher thanks
<mack> to be honest, unless things have changed, most people just side load retroarch for performance.
<k-man> oh...
<mack> It might be better now *shrug*
<k-man> sideload in what way? as in re-boot into it?
<mack> correct
<k-man> ok thanks
<k-man> i may just stick another pi onto my TV then
<mack> I personally run retroarch on a separate RPi, since my universal remote can choose toggle lots of hardware and inputs.
<k-man> my son wants to play Street fighter and i thought this would be simple but i've found the rabbit hole long and deep lol
<mack> It doesn't hurt anything to give the kodi integration a try. Just add a rom and enable the menu.
<k-man> can you remind me how to re-enable a menu? I suspect i disabled it a long time ago
<mack> you might have to enable an addon also. It's been forever since I tried it out.
<k-man> in other news, looks like the rpi shortage is well and truly over
<mack> I'm sure that page I linked before has some instruction
<k-man> thanks
<k-man> I'll have a read tonight when i'm in front of my tv/libreelec box
<k-man> iirc, in kodi you can remove menu items that you don't use
<k-man> but how does one get them back?
<k-man> that might be it

<woprr> howudodat, the libreelec driver does not support multichannel pcm, I've made one for allwinner devices a few years ago
<woprr> for AAC5.1 media , AVR do not have mp audio decoding
<howudodat> should I be looking at a different distro?
<woprr> no, userspace decides about passthru (kodi)
<woprr> the zattoo hiq does passthru only on recording and time shift, live is stereo downmixed :(
<woprr> kodi leia
<woprr> maybe try v.20

<howudodat> I'm guessing to try 19 I'll have to install an older version of libreelec, there's probably not a simple way to downgrade the kodi version?
