<d1b2> <hkppl> Hello any update on it? When will it ship out?
<d1b2> <esden> It still be a while before we start shipping. It is hard to make an estimate until I resolve all the road blocks. We are assembling hardware though. (see picture) Very slowly but we are. More info in the upcoming update.
<cyborg_ar> esden: ouch, looks like those tiny components are giving you a fight
<d1b2> <esden> yep, very much so... plus a PnP that can only place 2000 parts an hour... it is a serious slog
<cyborg_ar> 90s tech :D
<d1b2> <esden> I wish... the machine was designed in the early 80s 😦
<d1b2> <esden> But even though it is slow... we are moving forward... that is all that matters now 🙂
<cyborg_ar> ow can it even see the small components?
<d1b2> <esden> But I need to improve my solder paste stenciling... it is causing a lot of issues right now.
<cyborg_ar> yeah i saw that
<d1b2> <esden> *knock-on-wood" it is doing ok with the parts and placement accuracy so far
<d1b2> <Darius> maybe it needs some of those magnifying glasses you get at the pharmacy
<d1b2> <esden> The main issue is solder paste and stencil handling at the moment. There is space to improve.
<d1b2> <esden> @Darius 😄
<cyborg_ar> yeah it is friggin hard to do a good job with paste stenciling
<cyborg_ar> do you have an automated machine or is it hand technique?
<d1b2> <esden> good job... consistently is even harder 😄
<cyborg_ar> i have a hand one
<d1b2> <esden> I don't have an automated machine unfortunately... 😦
<cyborg_ar> i know your pain
<d1b2> <esden> Based on other projects I will get better at it as the assembly of the project continues, but right now it is ... oof
<cyborg_ar> it is not impossible, but it is hard, kinda like painting
<cyborg_ar> yep you need to get the timing, pressure, angle just right, over and over, over the entire panel
<d1b2> <esden> Each project has it's own "trickyness" to it...
<cyborg_ar> also ambient temperature
<cyborg_ar> what paste are you using? post reflow it looks gorgeous
<d1b2> <esden> and how long the paste was out plays a role too ...
<d1b2> <esden> sn100c from FCT
<cyborg_ar> i am very thankful you kept pushing with this, as things played out it sucked so much money out of the pot that you basically had the option to put them together like this, or give up and have to ask for more money
<cyborg_ar> i've been in similar situations where all my buffers just burn out and i have had to put together demos in christmas day :P
<cyborg_ar> staring down the barrel of that right now...
<d1b2> <esden> I appreciate it @cyborg_ar ... it is exactly that. I do not want to have to go back and ask people that already waited for ages for this for more money... but that means some more patience will be needed. I am very happy that things ore moving though. There is some little twinkle at the end of the tunnel. 🙂
<cyborg_ar> did any of the panels go through functional testing yet?
<d1b2> <esden> I am in the middle of that. Things are tentatively looking good, but I don't have a 100% answer yet, which in turn is delaying the update. I really want to be sure before I start making statements ...
<d1b2> <esden> was fighting some glasgow software things on my machine over the weekend... I hope to resolve them tomorrow hopefully
<d1b2> <xabean> the glasgow project may be the project that makes me learn a language besides perl
<cyborg_ar> :D
<cyborg_ar> python is nice
<cyborg_ar> i mean, right up to the point where you need to distribute your software to others
