<caughtquick> Hey, is it possible that this channel would be able to be bridged to matrix? :)
<caughtquick> the bridge already seems to be up, I think it's just opt in

<dnkl> Topic in #matrix still says "no bridge yet"
<dnkl> But may be outdated; the topic was set over a week ago

<kriive> Hi people! Thanks for the awesome terminal emulator, I feel that foot is super snappy and I've been happy to use it so far! Nice work
<kriive> I have a couple of question, is there a way to hot-reload the configuration when in server-mode?
<dnkl> kriive: I'm afraid not. There are currently no plans to add it. Sorry...
<kriive> dnkl: no worries, it's fine as it is, stopping and restarting foot in server mode isn't much of an hassle haha
<dnkl> kriive: i usually test my changes in normal foot instances, and only restart the server when I'm happy
<kriive> dnkl: yeah, that is in fact more ergonomic
<kriive> The other question has probably been asked and answered before many times and I've seen it referred in the Wiki and the FAQ, under "Emojis get “cut in half”"
<kriive> I understand that even with the
<kriive> allow-overflowing-double-width-glyphs enabled some fonts may continue to display gliphs cut in half, am I right?
<dnkl> In short, yes, it can happen. But can usually be worked around by customizing the fallback fonts
<kriive> dnkl: thank you so much!
<dnkl> kriive: no worries :)

<aydio> Hi, I noticed that when recording via OBS, foot seems more stuttery in the recorded video when typing text. More specifically, OBS sometimes misses that foot's content has been updated. This is especially prevalent when using a terinal file explorer like ranger. I couldn't find a matching issue on the repo. I can create one if it's not known.
<aydio> I can imagine this is something that happens in favor of performance, no wonder I can feel a difference in input lag vs. e.g. alacritty
<dnkl> aydio: I'm not sure what foot is supposed to do about that? Foot submits frames to the compositor, and supposedly OBS gets its input from the compositor.
<aydio> I don't know either - I'm just reporting a perceived difference vs. other terminals. It's not a big deal for me
<dnkl> aydio: are those other terminals GPU-accelerated?
<aydio> interesting - just installed termite and it shows the same behavior. case closed I guess :D
<dnkl> aydio: I'm guessing OBS interacts badly with shm surfaces (i.e software rendered frames). Whether or not it's a bug in OBS or the compositor is a different question...
