When setting bitrates I see a lot of people using "-b:v 6000k". Is that equivalent to "-b:v 6M" or is there some unit conversion issue between those two variants?
<johnny__40>
I am not sure about it yet but it seems like 6M is indeed 6 mbit.

What bufsize is the best for live streaming? I read that it's the interval that the encoder will analyze before deciding on the next bitrate change. I have seen values ranging from 0.5 - 2x bitrate.
<johnny__40>
For example here is 2x bitrate, which means every 2 seconds it will adjust bitrate: `-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -b:v 3M -maxrate 3M -bufsize 6M`
<johnny__40>
I have also seen `-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -b:v 3M -maxrate 3M -bufsize 3M` (1x/1second) and `-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -b:v 3M -maxrate 3M -bufsize 1.5M` (0.5x/0.5 seconds)

Hello, I have been trying to build the latest ffmpeg (https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/CompilationGuide/Centos) on Fedora (40/41) and have recently been getting "ERROR: x265 not found using pkg-config".
<singlespeed-de>
This has been happening the last couple of weeks, and was able to built it a few weeks ago on Fedora 41-Beta.
<singlespeed-de>
The most recent attempt is from a brand new installation of Fedora 41 this morning, and following the full process from scratch afterwards.

hi, i learned that -ac 2 drops the LFE channel. Is there some relatively simple way for an average user to downmix 7.1 lossless audio to stereo ? I don't even have surround and the audio is more space than the video even
<noobaroo>
Also, i cant mux a rawh264 stream into a container anymore, it seems
<furq>
use the pan filter or -lfe_mix_level
<furq>
but there's a reason it gets omitted by default
<noobaroo>
It used to be that only mkv wouldnt work and I would have to use middleman by making it to mpegts first but now that doesnt work either. I get: [mpegts @ 0x562be9038e00] first pts and dts value must be set
<noobaroo>
It still gives the warning `Timestamps are unset in a packet for stream 0. This is deprecated and will stop working in the future. Fix your code to set the timestamps properly` But its always given this warning. I guess it's just finally "the future" now.

I'm trying to convert my insta360 One RS videos from dual fisheye to EAC. The problem is the output has the faces rotated incorrectly. The out_forder option to the v360 filter doesn't seem to do anything. Even if I put junk in that parameter, I don't get an error.
<furq>
impulse: the forder options only work with the cubemap formats
<impulse>
furq: oh. EAC doesn't count as a cubemap? Anything I can do to fix my face rotations? My input fisheye is hstacked with the inside edge being common
<furq>
well it mentions in the docs those options are specific to c3x2, c6x1 and c1x6
