yo peeps, what's the set of options that limit the "guessing time" at the beginning? -limit_sampling or something? my searching isn't working and lets just say the documentation is full of "sample", although I'm looking at ffmpeg-all
<furq>
i guess you mean -analyzeduration or -probesize
<acidbunny>
furq: jackpot. Thank you, was looking for wrong term.

i'm a little confused about what -avoid_negative_ts 2 does. I think 2 == make_zero . I use it pretty much always. But it doesn't seem to actually have any effect, that I can tell. I recently encoded a 10mbps video into smaller resolution and copied the audio, i used -avoid_negative_ts 2. And the source video starts at 0.00 but my output starts at 0.033

Hi, for debugging I'd like to store frames of a video in raw NV12 images. How can I do that with ffmpeg?

anyone know how to determine which alsa devices are viable for input? I have devices shown in arecord -L which fail and I'm unclear how to determine which are viable options (in a systemic fashion)

hey, when I moved from av_image_alloc to av_frame_get_buffer, my gif stopped being animated. even the filesize is shorter.
<StephenLynx>
any ideas?

StephenLynx, why do you call av_frame_unref in the loop?
<StephenLynx>
i was told it has to be unrefered before you do stuff with it.

I've got a question regarding compiling ffmpeg. The --enable-jni option only works when compiling for Android, but JNI is also for desktop. Is there some way to enable JNI for desktop use? Also the error message for it is really misleading. "jni not found" implies the header wasn't found, even though the actual issue was it's not Android.
<ePirat>
StephenLynx, no, not really sure and dont have time to look into it more in-depth right now
