<BtbN> https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2024/01/08/introducing-the-enhanced-broadcasting-beta/ hm. "Finally, as steering committee members of the Veovera Software Organization, we’re driving industry collaboration to make the Enhanced RTMP Multitrack Feature specification available to the entire live streaming ecosystem in the coming months." oh boy
<BtbN> at least it's standard

<nevcairiel> I question why they are delegating the multi-stream generation to the streamer, rather then doing that on their infrastructure, thats like literally their job
<nevcairiel> the entire article basically says "we dont have enough servers and dont want to buy any, so you do it now"
<nevcairiel> and of course try to sell it as an upgrade
<Lynne> weird, they only do transcoding for partners afaik
<nevcairiel> they do, which is already them not wanting to spend money
<nevcairiel> the only positive out of that entire announcement is that they are finally starting to accept av1, probably in another year or so with their speed
<psykose> i look forward to having streams of fps movement be watchable instead of 4 color blocks

<BtbN> I mean, given how many people are streaming with 1~2 viewers, I do understand them not wanting to spin transcoders for all of those
<BtbN> The way it currently works is that all partners get transcodes, and the top N most viewed streams
<BtbN> where N is already quite a large number. If you got more than 20 viewers, you get transcodes
