<Marth64> Traneptora: Hi, I was going back into the issue of having yuv-to-rgb conversion in DVD demuxer. I now realize why I did it to begin with, open to any advice here. (1) I can't find a way to assign colorspace to DVD subtitle palette in libavformat. (2) I think right now libavformat is expecting DVD subtitle palettes as a hex-encoded RGB string in extradata. Key example: MOV demuxer converts from stored YUV to RGB before sending packets. MOV muxer, on
<Marth64> the other hand, converts from stored RGB to YUV. Thoughts? Thanks!

<Marth64> Guess my point is, MOV does this and I was going off it as an example. I don't see it done anywhere else. Even in dvd2concat, it's converted as RGB before being written to ffmetadata
<Traneptora> Marth64: if several muxers are all doing the same thing, and some sort of design decision makes it necessary, the first thing that should happen is all the common code in avformat that does the same thing should be deduplicated and centralized
<Traneptora> and then ideally you should call it
<Traneptora> since it's all within avformat there's no export overhead
<Marth64> Traneptora: I was thinking down that path. Thanks. I'll go down that route. Looks like a good convergence opportunity.
<Traneptora> https://ffmpeg.org/developer.html#Contributing the anchor #Contributing doesn't appear to do anything
<Traneptora> you can get that anchor with the link on the left-hand side
<Traneptora> I think when the page was reformatted that bar wasn't updated, so it should link somewhere else

<jamrial> elenril: whenever you can look at the paches i sent yesterday, two of them are for the cli
<Marth64> Traneptora: looks like that link went to roughly the top of the page (https://web.archive.org/web/20210128053258/http://ffmpeg.org/developer.html#Contributing) . Quick and reasonableish fix would be to rename "Introduction" anchor on current page to "Contributing". Happy to send a patch but don't wanna step on toes since it's a top level link.

<BBB> can I bugger someone to do a wiki edit for me?

<BBB> https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Encode/VP9 has two links to the webmproject wiki
<BBB> the wiki is dead since a while
<BBB> so I'd like to replace the links to versions from archive.org
<BBB> the other one ("phones and other embedded systems") points to http://wiki.webmproject.org/hardware/socs and should be updated to e.g. https://web.archive.org/web/20230614133122/http://wiki.webmproject.org/hardware/socs

<Marth64> I compiled it locally looked okay. The doc is missing a dependency needed to install in order to build the CSS (clean-css). But if I fix that I might as well add a package.json and update the instructinos to build it without root. so maybe some other time
<Marth64> the broken tag patches are sent tho
