<davidlt[m]> somlo: don't recall
<somlo> davidlt[m]: figured it out meanwhile, it's either (if the kernel supports gzipped initrd, it will automatically handle compressed images
<somlo> which is good -- means I can just use the fedora initrd as-is, eventually (once I figure out why the kernel crashes, probably some config option I left out or *should have* left out :)
<somlo> unfortunately I can't use the pre-compiled kernel, since I need the litex specific drivers (uart, sdcard, ethernet)
<davidlt[m]> upstream those parts ;)

<davidlt[m]> oh, it seems NetworkManager doesn't like "ip=dhcp"
<somlo> davidlt[m]: uart and ethernet are upstream, now working on sdcard :)
<davidlt[m]> Which kernel version and what CONFIG_* are required?
<somlo> LITEX_SOC_CONTROLLER, SERIAL_LITEUART, SERIAL_LITEUART_CONSOLE, LITEX_LITEETH (the latter was added on Aug. 26, 2021, around the 5.15 mark)
<somlo> but without the sdcard, none of it is too useful yet (that will likely be CONFIG_MMC_LITEX, unless they make me name it something else during review :)

zsun has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
jcajka has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<somlo> davidlt[m]: chances are the kernel panic during my latest attempt to boot fedora on litex had something to do with an attempt (and subsequent failure) to load one of the modules shipping with the initrd image
<somlo> since I wasn't using the matching kernel
<somlo> so I'll defer all this until after I get the sdcard driver upstream :)
<davidlt[m]> ah yes, you would need to rebuild it
<davidlt[m]> yeah, that would be better, on at least get it approved
<davidlt[m]> or very least get very little critical comments :)
<somlo> As soon as I get any positive signs from upstream, you'll be the first one I tell :D
<davidlt[m]> you can CC me on the patches
