<uwumeowmeownyaa>
There seems to be very few Matrix clients ported to CRUX GNU/Linux distribution...

neochat, weechat, are two offhand I'm aware of. I use cinny, which one can use in browser or install the deb package
<uwumeowmeownyaa>
Neochat seems to be a decent option, I wonder if I can use it without KDE... And as for weechat, it is not suitable for Matrix.
<remiliascarlet>
You can use plugins for Matrix functionality.
<remiliascarlet>
Otherwise, there's Gomuks.
<uwumeowmeownyaa>
This is not as good as having a dedicated client app.
<uwumeowmeownyaa>
Now I'm going to steal someone's port to install Neochat.
<remiliascarlet>
There are no "apps" on desktops.
<remiliascarlet>
And Gomuks is a dedicated Matrix client.
<remiliascarlet>
Mac users use the word "app" for everything because they're Steve Jobs's sheeple. Windows and Linux users use that work because they got brainwashed by Steve Jobs.

If I have to steal someone's port to compile a program, then it's an "app".

Could you please tell me how do I take someone else's Pkgfile and turn it into my own package? Should I just download it and run pkgmk?
<farkuhar>
uwumeowmeownyaa: essentially yes, but download the Pkgfile into a dedicated directory with the name of the port. Read the Handbook chapter on the Ports System for more details: https://crux.nu/Main/Handbook3-7#ntoc48
<remiliascarlet>
Wrong! An "app" is trick Steve Jobs came up with to make you believe it's an abbreviation for "application", even though he also tricks you to call anything related to software as such, because it just so conveniently makes you think of Apple, which is yet another word that starts with "app".
<remiliascarlet>
Say the A-word enough times, and you subcontiously plant the desire into other people's minds to buy Apple products.
<farkuhar>
remiliascarlet: I wonder if lennox left #crux this hour specifically because it would trigger the /part message with "app" in the URL.
<remiliascarlet>
No idea, I disabled the part/join messages long ago.
<remiliascarlet>
Those messages get especially annoying in channels with lots of users.
<farkuhar>
I just thought it was fitting that the first part/join message after uwumeowmeownyaa's claim about what constitutes an app was "lennox leaves #crux: Textual IRC Client: www.textualapp.com".
<remiliascarlet>
And looking at the screenshots, it makes me believe it's yet another Electron-based easy money grab.

Thank you for the hint, sooner or later I will figure out how to create ports :-)
<ppetrov^>
remiliascarlet, i never connected app with apple until you mentioned it
<farkuhar>
pip2crux is merely the latest in a succession of tools that try to shoehorn language-specific deployment systems into standard CRUX packaging. Before pip2crux we had Alan's cpan2crux, and ppetrov^ did something similar for R.
