farkuhar: emmett1 moved states. His laptop died. So CRUX-MUSL is going to be outdated for awhile from his end.
<farkuhar>
stratofall: gmake and friends are some of the few programs that recognize DESTDIR=$PKG *after* the command. Most other programs require you to declare such shell variables or environment variables *before* the command, otherwise DESTDIR=$PKG is interpreted as an argument.
<stratofall>
yeah, I was confused by how it worked. It also seemed very different from the autotools way of doing it. I had to read up on cmake and its flags/variables to really see what was happening instead of trying to brute force it like I was doing in the first Pkgfile I posted.
<stratofall>
So far I have done, fastfetch, asunder, mangohud, makemkv-oss and technically makemkv-bin... But makemkv-bin needs you to agree to the license in order to install it. Not sure how to work around that yet.
<farkuhar>
`DESTDIR=$PKG make install` is more idiomatic, and generalizes better to other commands besides (g)make, where you might want to temporarily override the value of a shell or environment variable. But for historical reasons, most implementations of make continue to support `make DESTDIR=$PKG install`.
<frinnst>
that's a fun surprise when running sysup
<frinnst>
I should just buy a mac or something..

frinnst: Don't. Life is better away from it
<SiFuh>
frinnst: Well, apart from the near death event that almost followed on the 30th of August thanks to some not-so-clever 4x4 guys. I turned to the wife and said "F*** these guys, we gave them enough chances, now it is my turn". Then ignored them completely
