<beerman> https://git.crux.nu:82/ports/core/commit/a4ce8cb8734947f539c33ab8790913f963101b0e finally came around commiting the python changes. i wrote up a little about the why and how in this commit. in the future, we might replace setuptools with pip in core, but for now, maybe it's better to stick with setuptools
<beerman> feedback is welcome

<jue> beerman: looks good to me, no objections
<beerman> jue great
<jue> latest exim depends on the perl https://metacpan.org/pod/File::FcntlLock module, but only a new utility exim_id_update requires that
<jue> I tend to disable that utility for now and see if someone complains ;)
<beerman> sounds like a plan. i haven't looked into it just saw that it demanded something new
<jue> for me exim works flawless without it
<beerman> i am not using exim myself so don't expect me complaining :)
<jue> ok :)
<beerman> with python 3.12, firefox does not build, and both qtwebengines fail as well. i expect those to be sorted soon
<beerman> everything else seemed fine, so its mostly okay.
<jaeger> No strong feelings about which way to go with python here
<beerman> alright, lets roll with it and see if anything pops up on our way to 3.8
<jaeger> ok
