If I downgrade ffmpeg to version 4.x it simply starts working again...
<Romster>
nomius, install ffmpeg4 no rebuild on firefox needed
<Romster>
prt-get deptree firefox
<nomius>
Yeah, that did the trick... I guess the new firefox doesnt' support ffmpeg5 (yet?)
<Romster>
i thought it might but it doesn't just yet

Romster: there's no 3.7 iso yet, right?
<beerman>
nomius: do you think we would hide it from you?
<farkuhar>
nomius: what do you mean "downgrade ffmpeg to version 4.x"? Did you have a 4.x pkg.tar.gz leftover from an earlier build of ffmpeg (before the version bump)? I'd recommend instead that you just install the opt/ffmpeg4 port, whose footprint won't interfere with the newer ffmpeg. I have both versions installed myself, since version 4 is needed by moc, wf-recorder, and other ports.

in addition: this is not a support channel. nomius should post in #crux IMO. And since he just cares about his pet distro kwort... /shrug

nomius: if you want to contribute to CRUX, this is the right place. If you want support with it, there is #crux, there is the mailing list, and there is flyspray. But not #crux-devel. And you should be old enough to know that asking for etas and such is just never helping anything so please, just stop?

beerman: never said that... It's a long log to read and I'm not often around, so I ask instead of reading the whole log :-)
<beerman>
never? thats a strong statement, lets just leave it like that ok?
<nomius>
farkuhar: I did that, yeah, having the two versions.
<beerman>
please continue in #crux as this is where everybody else asks questions and looks for answers, this is the wrong place. thanks

that pam.d/login change is fishy; what if you login via su sshd etc. No, if nothing else, he knows the manual of my pam_xdg and simply refuses to use common-session for that. Sorry if i overestimate my importance. Fishy!

Something I miss about moving away from autotools is that the counterpart of --disable-nls is not always provided among the meson options. It forces the Pkgfile to have an extra cleanup step (or worse, an i18n argument error that prevents the build from succeeding in the first place).
