<arnd> bjdooks: there are three supported sa110 machines at the moment: rpc, footbridge/netwinder and footbridge/ebsa285. rpc requires a kernel built with -march=armv3 though, so its days are limited by requiring gcc-8 or older
<arnd> I expect that we'll remove all of them at some point when we kill off atags and board files altogether, though linusw has previously said he might try a DT conversion for footbridge and/or sa1100

<bjdooks> I could probably do a loader for the cats or similar dec-footbridge, once i've got rid of emfcamp and fixing my frige
<bjdooks> I wonder if you could make uboot or grub loadable from the old bootloaders

<bjdooks> I should do something entirely stupid with my riscpc like put an imx8 in the cpu slot
<bjdooks> I am so backlogged i've not fixed my hp microsever from december... in fact i'm now solving this by a parcel of a gen8 microserver second hand off ebay

<linusw__> arnd: I'm a bit lazy on that side, but if there are other users of SA1100 than me and RMK I might have a stab at it!
<linusw__> The SA110 is a pretty small chunk of code and nice for serious stress testing of old code so I might have a go at it.
<arnd> linusw__: there were a couple of others that said they were interested in sa1100 two years ago when we removed most of the boards, but I never really heard back after that, so my impression is that nobody actually wants to spend real work on it
<linusw__> arnd: Yeah :P I think time is better spent with OMAP1 because if I break something there the users come back in a week and point it out!
<arnd> agreed, omap1 and orion5x are the ones that I think are most likely to have actual users
<arnd> (among the remaining non-DT platforms)
<arnd> and ep93xx of course, but that is actively being worked on

<marex> bjdooks: why not port U-Boot to that machine ?
<marex> bjdooks: and I think you could remove a lot of the init logic and just jump to u-boot from existing bootloader, sure
