atorgue: I think it's reasonable to assume that whatever dma_alloc_pages() returns can be mapped without restriction, but there wouldn't be any harm in still checking dma_max_mapping_size() as well.

however if the intent is to allocate and map straight away, then you may as well use dma_alloc_noncoherent() which does that for you

(and you just dma_sync at the points where the buffer is updated and/or handed off)
