TERM=linux setterm --blank=1 | sudo tee -a /dev/tty4 ... and --powerdown=2 ... blanks AND powers off after 1 minute but then powers back on immediately. how do I keep the monitor in power save on orange pi 5?

an X session is able to keep the monitor in power save but a text terminal is apparently not. any ideas?
