<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> "Wow this rockchip u-boot is trash, when can we get away from it?" - 2017
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> @MacKahan and just think....is it any better???... hmmm....
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> it's exactly the same XD
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> heheh I was thinking.. It might be worse.....
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> well that's possible too
<DC-IRC> <.richn> so here is a question I like the look of sddm . but I think we should make a way to have a option of what DM to use when you buld the desktop
<DC-IRC> <.richn> but as it is there is not way to select
<DC-IRC> <.richn> as the machines with 4 gig + can used sddm
<DC-IRC> <.richn> but how to set this per board
<DC-IRC> <efectn> you can add an extension
<DC-IRC> <.richn> ?
<DC-IRC> <.richn> no because the pkg is installed when desktops are installed. but I will look . I was hoping it can be set in the board config file
<DC-IRC> <efectn> you can remove it here i think
<DC-IRC> <.richn> well the issue it has to be voted on. but just trying to update the look and feel. as we need a more professional look in the future
<DC-IRC> <.richn> ok well I got budgie ready to test
<DC-IRC> <.richn> next is cleanig up cinnamon
<DC-IRC> <efectn> is rockchip-rk3588 edge kernel able to boot?
<DC-IRC> <.richn> not that I know tonymac32 is working to get things going
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> In my experience no. I built a dtb for the nanopc T6 and it won't boot on edge, but does on the newly introduced "collabora" kernel. I'm honestly not sure what's up
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> Once I get that device tree debugged I'll come back to "clean" mainline and see what I get
<DC-IRC> <efectn> I also tried porting opi5 and couldn't boot
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> Yeah maybe compare the collabora and edge kernel configs
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> There has to be something obvious
<DC-IRC> <efectn> If i remove console=tty1 i can get kernel serial output
<DC-IRC> <efectn> It got stuck on initramfs, cant find mmc
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> Right it's serial 2 on the rk3588-evb based stuff
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> Hmmmm need to patch in SD support maybe
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> I can't remember if that's in 6.4 yet
<DC-IRC> <efectn> Collabora branch is based on mainline it shouldn't be difficult to debug it
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> Correct
<DC-IRC> <efectn> Sdmmc and pmic nodes are exists on mainline
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> I just haven't yet, I figured I had my device tree wrong so just tossed it onto the collabora kernel and it worked
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> I saw pmic in next, not in 6.4
<DC-IRC> <efectn> Oh really
<DC-IRC> <efectn> It might be issue
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> Yeah I saw them in patchwork and assumed they were in mainline, but then checked and couldn't find
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> Right, tries to turn on regulators, can't, panics
<DC-IRC> <efectn> Let me try to grab some patches from collabora branch and try again tomorrow
<DC-IRC> <efectn> yeah you're right it'll be in 6.5
<DC-IRC> <speakertomeat> Is there anything special I need to do to get 4k on the rk-3399 based orange pi 4 lts? the android image it came with showed nice on a 4k tv, but armbian (Jammy) has a large glitch covering the right 33% of the screen and lots of lines/glitches here and there
