<PrathamPatel[m]> Of the components sent upstream (regardless of if they are merged or not), what is necessary for a functioning system that is headless (with UART ofc)?
<davidlt[m]> DT and clock patchset (I think it was merged into a single one).
<davidlt[m]> That's what you need on the kernel side. OpenSBI master branch would work without any patches.
<davidlt[m]> Then there is U-Boot single large patchset to add VF2.
<PrathamPatel[m]> davidlt[m]: I think everything except for the reset/power-off patchset, everything in OpenSBI is merged upstream
<davidlt[m]> China had export ban for Loongson.
<davidlt[m]> Now US also added Loongson to the blacklist.
<cwt[m]> Hmm why?
<davidlt[m]> Well this is geopolitics.
<PrathamPatel[m]> Can anyone confirm is the docs of VF2 mention a hardware clock (time)?
<PrathamPatel[m]> Can anyone confirm if the VF2 docs state that it does or does not have a hardware clock (for time)?

<davidlt[m]> You mean RTC?
<PrathamPatel[m]> Yep, I confirmed it with `hwclock`.
<PrathamPatel[m]> Thank you though :)
zsun has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
<davidlt[m]> Note that there are no battery on the board :)
<cwt[m]> The RTC is on CPU, I plan to buy an external I2C or SPI RTC.
<PrathamPatel[m]> <davidlt[m]> "Note that there are no battery..." <- Michael in Arch Linux RISC-V room suggested systemd-timesyncd as a good option for NTP and it works :)
<PrathamPatel[m]> <cwt[m]> "The RTC is on CPU, I plan to buy..." <- Any particular reason why?
<cwt[m]> oh, I just checked the price, I2C RTC is really cheap. I just ordered 5 modules with the sum of their prices being just around 3 USD.
<cwt[m]> PrathamPatel[m]: Because there will be some situations that the board cannot connect to network.
<PrathamPatel[m]> Fair :)
<cwt[m]> And the price is less than a Starbucks coffee.
<PrathamPatel[m]> haha
tg has quit [Quit: tg]
<cwt[m]> I also have other boards that I can play which may have some benefits from RTC modules too. I have >10 ESP32 and other boards available.
somlo_ is now known as somlo
<ol> <cwt[m]> "oh, I just checked the price..." <- Which one did you buy?
