If anyone is interested in a preview https://github.com/no2fpga/no2muacm . It's meant as a "drop-in" core implementing USB CDC ACM targetting ice40 (up5k but lp/hx too. ECP5 version upcoming). It also implements DFU runtime to allow programatically reboot to a dfu bootloader bitstream, making the dev cycle more pleasant.
<tnt>
General idea is that the release will be .ilang file containing everything so the user doesn't have to mess wih the internal and can just drop that as a blackbox.

sharing this with my coworkers. DFU updating is really neat.

kc8apf: note this is just the runtime part (so basically the command to reboot into another bitstream). You need a DFU bootloader part ... ( I recommend no2bootloader but I'm biased. ). The DFU bootloader bitstream isn't as compact but that doesn't matter since in bootloader mode no need for user logic. While here the 'muacm' tries to be really compact.

I poked around and found no2bootloader
<Hoernchen_>
i still don't quite get why people would say no to bootloaders and fpgas..
<tnt>
no1 seemed a bit pretentious.
<Hoernchen_>
no one fpga? well..
<tnt>
In french "no" is abbreviation for "Number"
