Just wondering: How does Yocto get its security patches for the kernel in LTS versions? Are those just the LTS versions managed by gregkh or is more patching happening?
<jclsn>
Ah well probably not. Why would anyone provide support longer than the original EOL of kernel branches...

<MrTatillon>
yes, I did
<MrTatillon>
I'm installing the “packages needed to build the project documentation manuals:” just in case.

anyone else seeing selftests wic.Wic2.test_expand_mbr_image and wic.Wic2.test_rawcopy_plugin_qemu failing with ext4 corruption on master? ext4_dirblock_csum_verify:406: inode #13: comm swapper/0: No space for directory leaf checksum. Please run e2fsck -D

mcfrisk_: that sounds like an inode space problem
<mcfrisk_>
build host is fine, generated normal images too. only images wich wic modifies seem to have this issue

Hi, im trying to send a set of patches to kirkstone / scarthgap, for some reason i cant use git am to apply them from patchwork. I simply cherry-picking and using git send-email with the number of commits to send them. If anyone have an idea of what could be causing this please let me know, i suspect on some tab replacement but im not editing it.
<yocton>
Pferreira: yeah, tabs got expanded in spaces along the way
<yocton>
Pferreira: I suspect the server that added the legal notice "The information in this communication may contain confidential..." may have done this
<yocton>
Pferreira: with spaces retranslated to tabs, your patch applies
<yocton>
Pferreira: I don't have the "Corporate mail server mangles my patches" problem but those who have, either use another mail or fight their IT to get a way to send unmodified mails

about optee: kernel will soon have native RPMB support with optee so tee-supplicant userspace is not needed in some use cases anymore
<mcfrisk_>
LetoThe2nd: ^ maybe comment that in the stream
<MrTatillon>
qschulz : I installed python3.9 instead with zypper for cleaner install

So, I got the following error, and I'm quite confuse...

mcfrisk_: that’s great, thanks
<yocton>
MrTatillon: bitbake uses "/usr/bin/env python3" shebang, does that point to your 3.9.18 python?
olani- has joined #yocto
<MrTatillon>
yocton: ah ok, thanks, and no it's not
<MrTatillon>
`/usr/bin/env python3` point to 3.6.15
<MrTatillon>
do you know how update it ?
<yocton>
MrTatillon: I'm not familliar with zypper but I would look around how does zypper point to its python3 version. Alternatively, I heavily use python virtualenv to avoid host interaction when doing python stuff.

RP: wic selftest failures are due to those tests runqemu booting into .ext4 images not the actual .wic images which were modified. will send a patch soon
