In "meta-raspberrypi" Dunfell, upgraded the kernel 5.4 to 5.15.
<Guest79>
In "meta-raspberrypi" Kirkstone, downgraded kernel 5.15 to 5.10.
<Guest79>
I get lower CPS than "meta-raspberrypi" dunfell in the 3 tests I did above. I see slowness in the CPS (cycle per second) calculation that i have made in my code. The fastest is "meta-raspberrypi" dunfell.

Guest79: how significant is the difference between these 4 (with 5.4 dunfell as a baseline)? Is it still 1/3 as you mentioned before?

Guest76: maybe it's worth also downgrading the firmware/bootloader
<Guest79>
JaMa i see a decrease from 22-25 to 15-18 in the CPS calculation, i made in my own code. in addition, when i resize mat 1640x1232 to 300x300 5000 times on an empty main.cpp, "meta-raspberrypi" dunfell takes 19-20 seconds, while others take 30-31 seconds.

in addition, while a single thread can execute 4125 events in 20 seconds in Kirkstone, it can execute 9227 events in Dunfell. i tested with sysbench tool.

Hi all! it seems there is an issue with gcc9.5
<bob24>
with inconsistent noexcept-specific for valarray begin/end,
<tomzy_0>
I wonder is that some problem with useradd/extrauser bbclass or the documentation or in some way my build did not set something correctly
<jclsn>
Is it mandatory to build with the devtool command instead of bitabke when having checked out a workspace with devtool modify? It seems my changes are not being compiled into the image
<jclsn>
I was assuming that whatever branch is checked out in the workspace does not matter. Also a commit should not be necessary. It should just build what is in the workspace, right?
florian has joined #yocto
<qschulz>
jclsn: if the recipe from the workspace is enabled in devtool, yes
<qschulz>
jclsn: devtool status should tell you what you need to know
<jclsn>
qschulz: Well, devtool status shows me it is using the repo in the workspace, but the changes I have made are not landing in the final binary. I have already tried bitbake -c cleanall
<jclsn>
Maybe the error is somewhere else
<qschulz>
jclsn: what kind of changes?
<jclsn>
qschulz: Well, I am working on the C code of that recipe
<qschulz>
jclsn: add an #error in your C code and start a build, if it doesn't fail, you'll know for sure it's not used
<jclsn>
I have added some test logs, but they are not being logged. So I am assuming that those changes are not built, which is strange
<jclsn>
qschulz: Okay will try
<jclsn>
After the lunch break

tomzy_0: see last commit from rburton in the issue.
<tomzy_0>
landgraf commit? I am not sure if I see it
<landgraf>
tomzy_0: s/commit/comment/, sorry
<tomzy_0>
not sure what it give me, are we missing something in recipe? I tried to compare with the latest from master of `meta` but the version changed so maybe this is no longer an issue
<louson>
Hello. Considering in yocto we prefer to download release archives instead of git repositories. How safe is it to use auto-generated github archives ? We rely on checksums, but there is no proof github does not change the code before making the archive. Is that correct ?
<rburton>
louson: it is not. which is why there's a warning if you do.
<rburton>
a github archive link is not a release tarball

tomzy_0: you most likely need to export OPENSSL_MODULES="${STAGING_LIBDIR_NATIVE}/ossl-modules" in the recipe that is trying to use openssl
d-fens_ has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<louson>
rburton: ok cool. I haven't seen it so far, but I'll pay attention
<tomzy_0>
rburton: thanks, I think that it is ansible which try to use openssl, probably via cryptography
<tomzy_0>
so I should just add `export OPENSSL_MODULES="${STAGING_LIBDIR_NATIVE}/ossl-modules" ` inside the ansible recipe? not sure how it should work

So, using a patch file seems needlessly complicated when all you are doing is adding files to the source code of a recipe. (Adding board and config files to u-boot-imx) Would it make sense to just use something like this in `u-boot-imx_%.bbappend`?
