<Guest4820> Hi, with EXTRA_OEMAKE you can give additional arguments to make. I don't understand the rk399 variable in the following example,  EXTRA_OEMAKE:append:rk3399
<Guest4820> What does the above mean? I thought it wasn't possible to do that in that way, I thought I had to explicitly use EXTRA_OEMAKE:append = " ..."
nemik has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
nemik has joined #yocto
<Guest4820> Does it mean the target which is specified in the makefile? The reason why I'm asking it is because I didn't find it documented as far as I've searched at least.
<neverpanic> EXTRA_OEMAKE is passed as additional argument to the invocation of make. I'm not familiar with any :-syntax at all, I thought it was EXTRA_OEMAKE_append = " ...", but my knowledge is from a few versions ago, maybe it's a recent feature.
<Guest4820> neverpanic Yes, I wanted to know the extra variable after append, Question 1: how is that picked up by make?

<kranzo> Hi All,
<kranzo> is there an official document about the github mirror of poky? Or any known reason that github is out of sync to https://git.yoctoproject.org/poky/ ?

<LetoThe2nd> kranzo: simple reason, because it is not official nor officially maintained.

<RP> kranzo: I just updated it. It is supposed to happen automatically :/
<Saur[m]> Guest4820, neverpanic: Colon is used instead of underscore as separator for overrides since Honister. So the above means that the append only applies to rk3399, which I assume is a SoC or BSP.
<kranzo> RP: thanks for the info, should it be a official mirror?
<RP> kranzo: not really
<RP> would only encourage people to try and send pull requests
<kranzo> RP: ok good to know
<derRichard> i have a recipe which needs an entry in /etc/inittab, what is the recommend way to achieve this? editing /etc/inittab in my image recipe? some sysvinit-inittab_%.bbappend?

<bigendian> hi, is there a package for mstpd ?
<bigendian> LetoThe2nd: thanks !
<bigendian> i am in zeus. better just add the recipe to my bsp layer, or add one of those layers ?
<LetoThe2nd> bigendian: look at the recipe, copy over, then tune until it works well enough. then, upgrade to dunfell at least.

<Xagen> what would you guys recommend for fixing "do_fetch: Bitbake Fetcher Error: FetchError("Recipe uses a floating tag/branch without a fixed SRCREV yet doesn't call bb.fetch2.get_srcrev() (use SRCPV in PV for OE).", None)"?
tangofoxtrot has joined #yocto
<rburton> use ${SRCPV} in PV?
<landgraf> :)
<Xagen> rburton: lol, i realize that's what it's alluding to, but i don't know what exactly it's referring to doing in the recipe
<rburton> the PV should contain SRCPV
<Xagen> rburton: i use ${PV} in the SRCURI, but otherwise don't do anything with it
<rburton> grep will show you lots of examples in oe-core
<RP> PV = "1.2+git${SRCPV}"

<turkeykittin> JaMa: You mentioned staging a file in the sysroot to pass information between recipes when one recipe is a dependency of another. This is very close to what I want to do in the firstplace: I am compiling with Cmake but I need to pass along the include directory and shared library that is generated as part of another recipe. How can I reference
<turkeykittin> files in the sysroot generated by another recipe? Can I safely assume an install i.e. `install -d "${D}/opt/pylon"` is now placed in sysroot, so I should be able to access it in the next recipe (Given that I have also listed /opt/ as a SYSROOT_DIRS)?
<turkeykittin> Rather, how can I reference in the secondary recipe that it must look in sysroot /opt/ for its dependencies? Is there some variable to use here?
<turkeykittin> --> Which I will then of course pass into cmake as an arg later
