<Tartarus> sjg1: So I've pushed the arm64/CI stuff to the point where sandbox CI stuff is now failing in what I think is interesting ways
<Tartarus> I'll post a follow-up series to tweak the Dockerfile / . gitlab-ci.yml once the whole build finishes this time

<sjg1> It looks like you haven't applied the series?
<Tartarus> sjg1: No, it's on top of your series
<Tartarus> with more changes so pytest jobs run
naoki has quit [Quit: naoki]
<Tartarus> sjg1: errr, wait, I guess some of your patches got dropped later on? Hunh.
<sjg1> Well that is a mystery - the print_hexdump_line() test was passing for me, with the patch
<Tartarus> You dropped that out by 5
<Tartarus> v5
<Tartarus> So, OK, that's something to grab next then for the re-run
<Tartarus> I think I'll end up making a v6
<Tartarus> Since I'm re-working the grub-efi part now that it dawned on me what it was doing
<sjg1> SGTM

<Tartarus> sjg1: oh, is alexandria on?
<Tartarus> gitlab says last contact 45min ago
<sjg1> Yes, but only with an 'arm' tag
<sjg1> Oh, also it's not a group runner, because I don't have access, remember?
<sjg1> It looks like Ilias' is running though, so it should be OK
<Tartarus> Yeah, I enabled it for my tree tho too
<Tartarus> Showed up now, I just wasn't being polled frequently

<Tartarus> Idly wonder if newer gcc/binutils is better about stable cross-compilation stuff, given https://source.denx.de/u-boot/u-boot/-/jobs/952810 which is that two platforms grew in size when built on aarch64 vs x86_64 but nominally same toolchain

<Tartarus> sjg1: Did you email source-admins@denx.de when it happened?
<Tartarus> xypron: re https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/uboot/list/?series=430716&state=* are you OK with that for now and getting the core part reworked for post v2025.01 ?
<rfs613> sjg1: it is just very slow... TLS handshake completes quickly, then it takes minutes before you get anything further.
<xypron> Tartarus: In the comments I think we agreed that this is the wrong place for the fix.
<rfs613> i notice this a few day ago, and it still seems to be behaving the same today
<Tartarus> xypron: It would be better to rework the core, yes, but it's also late in the cycle for a larger change. Unless you strongly object

<sjg1> Tartarus: OK, I emailed. It happens regularly though. The server really needs some monitoring so people are aware of it
<sjg1> Re the error you got, that is because we are still using the pre-built binaries in CI. I will take a look at that patch and see if I can figure it out
<Tartarus> Yeah, we've hit the problem I was saying we would hit ;)
<Tartarus> And you said you'd fix that along with removing sudo requirement, once we had arm64 CI hosts

<sjg1> Yes I agreed to redo the Richard Weinberger series once the efi test lands. It finally did, after a year
<sjg1> Tartarus: I am looking at it, but it doesn't quite work. Did you test his series?
<Tartarus> sjg1: Yes, and I think the only thing that failed was a pylint problem?
<Tartarus> But he also noted that our current tests rely on some non-obvious failures happening for the fallback to be what's actually used

<marex> hm , seems CONFIG_SPL_BUILD in .dts files or u-boot.dtsi does not work, because fdtgrep is always called on the u-boot .dtbs , there is no separate build of SPL dtbs which would filter out bits wrapped in ifdef CONFIG_SPL_BUILD
<marex> sjg1: > It might need a new entry type, perhaps? ... I do not want to modify binman, one experience was enough for me for a long time
<marex> sjg1: if binman cannot generate 4 32bit words, then I'll just look for another tool
