<derRichard>
so, the plan is removing jffs2 instead of fixing it?

marex: Not at present. Do you mean: at a particular offset? What is the word for?
<Tartarus>
derRichard: Well, if no one wants to fix it because no one uses it...
<Tartarus>
I'd welcome a patch to fix it :) But thus far, yes, everyone has been "lets just stop using it"
<marex>
sjg1: I need four 32bit words in one 4k page, it is similar to what MX8M does with the FSPI blob which has a few more words like that
<marex>
sjg1: I want to avoid patching binman itself ever again
<derRichard>
Tartarus: well, the fix for this specific issue is easy. but u-boot uses an ad-hoc jffs2 implementation which is very different from linux. so, i fear it has many more bugs. if really nobody uses it, just rm -rf fs/jffs2 instead of disabling it in some default configs
<marex>
derRichard: altera probably still uses it on socfpga
<marex>
derRichard: they were always big fans of jffs2 ... for whatever reason
<derRichard>
for tiny nor flashes it makes a lot of sense
<marex>
derRichard: they use it on nand
<derRichard>
:-S
<derRichard>
on nand it makes zero sense and just headache
