jkm. I use u-boot to boot uefi Linux even iso installers with rk3566. If you have this board you can have the u-boot in kwiboo GitHub. Fedora or opensuse are the most reliable while Ubuntu and. Debían are prone to fail.

Right, but that's U-Boot executing EFI payloads
<Tartarus>
That's enabled on basically every aarch64 platform in U-Boot

Tartarus: sjg1: Some of board code seems to be missing to run the EFI app on arm64 and riscv64. There are already arm64 latops like Lenovo X13s. So porting might make sense.

There's literally no "board" code to board/efi/efi-x86_app/ tho
<Tartarus>
Just the Kconfig

Tartarus: crt*.so, *.lds. Yes the board code is minimal.
<Tartarus>
It sounds like there might be some re-factoring to do of some Kconfig symbols and such, we have hello world already as an efi app that works everywhere

<Tartarus>
and maybe a little of arch/x86/cpu/efi/ should be in that board directory
<Tartarus>
Only the call to default_print_cpuinfo is x86-centric
<Tartarus>
and then, x86 should do what arc does and just have a weak default print_cpuinfo
<Tartarus>
But I guess I don't quite know the difference between "app" and "stub" is the root of my problem
