<d1b2> <johnsel> hey @azonenberg, don't you think it's time for a new developer meeting?
<azonenberg> I was actually thinking that myself, its been a while since we've had one
<azonenberg> things have been chaotic with the little one and work has been keeping me super busy. I'll try to set a time soonish
<azonenberg> on that note, the new UPS batteries just showed up and i am in the process of doing distro patches to move as much of my infrastructure as possibly to latest debian release
<azonenberg> this will coincide with hypervisor patches so i'll be rebooting the VM server
<azonenberg> And finally installing those new GPUs
<azonenberg> Which are now sitting on the table a foot from my hand with the low profile 2U bracketsi nstalled
<d1b2> <azonenberg> @johnsel @david.rysk @lainpants @louis8374 @mubes (and anyone else interested in participating)... How's 10AM Pacific on the 28th for a dev meeting?
<d1b2> <azonenberg> oh and @246tnt
<d1b2> <johnsel> I'm gonna weep if we end up needing a professional series card after all
<d1b2> <johnsel> but glad to hear it's finally about to happen
<d1b2> <azonenberg> Yeah. I've been very busy, i decluttered my regular lab benches for the first time since like february
<d1b2> <azonenberg> and only managed to do that because i took a week off work to catch up on things lol
<d1b2> <johnsel> No worries from my end, I know life gets in the way of things and we're all doing this out of love for the project
<d1b2> <johnsel> did you notice we got new neighbours by the way (in the channel list, that is)
<d1b2> <azonenberg> oh theres a sigrok channel now lol
<d1b2> <johnsel> oh, and this works for me
<d1b2> <azonenberg> Ok I put it on my calendar as a tentative, but might change once i hear back from other people
<tnt> azonenberg: what gpu did you end up getting ?
<d1b2> <johnsel> 2x 1030 iirc
<d1b2> <azonenberg> 1630 i think?
<d1b2> <azonenberg> it's a non-RTX nvidia card. most recent i was able to find in a half height/2U form factor
<d1b2> <johnsel> oh could be too
<d1b2> <azonenberg> none of the RTX cards would fit in a 2U
<d1b2> <johnsel> we could look for an ebay A2000 low profile
<d1b2> <david.rysk> gigabyte makes a low-profile 4060, not sure if it would fit
<d1b2> <david.rysk> yeah it still seems double-width
<d1b2> <azonenberg> That may not have been available when i ordered these months ago
<d1b2> <azonenberg> i think 4000 series was brand new
<d1b2> <azonenberg> these are double width
<d1b2> <azonenberg> anyway we dont need the latest and greatest we just need a GPU
<d1b2> <johnsel> Yep for sure it was not
<d1b2> <mubes> Not sure if I can reasonably still be considered a developer, but yes, that works for me.
<d1b2> <johnsel> anyway we have only 2 requirements "GPU" and "virtualizable"
<d1b2> <david.rysk> 10xx is a bit dated; 16xx isn't as bad
<d1b2> <azonenberg> anyway i hope to get the cards installed some time in the next couple days
<tnt> Asrock also makes a A380 in half height. Not sure if the Arc series also support SR-IOV like the iGPU do.
<d1b2> <azonenberg> @mubes you're familiar with the code and can still contribute to discussion even if you arent actively dev-ing
<d1b2> <azonenberg> oh that reminds me i should poke @hansemro since he is definitely an active developer. Hansem, what's your availability for a developer call 10am Seattle time on the 28th?
<d1b2> <johnsel> it does not
<d1b2> <johnsel> anyway hopefully we can just use those nvidias as-is or with a vGPU patch. If that does not work best to just get a cheap older enterprise grade RTX
<d1b2> <azonenberg> Yeah. We'll find out soon
<d1b2> <azonenberg> The half height is really the only challenge as i have a bunch of full height nvidia cards i might be retiring at some point
<d1b2> <azonenberg> i'm eyeing an upgrade for my 2080 Ti for something with more RAM so i can work with gigapoint waveforms better
<d1b2> <hansemro> Works for me
<d1b2> <azonenberg> Ok great mark your calendar, i'll send a zoom invite out a bit before
<d1b2> <johnsel> no space for a pcie extender either?
<d1b2> <azonenberg> Not with all the other cards i have in that case (and the chassis has no horizontal slots)
<d1b2> <azonenberg> its a supermicro 2U with a total of seven half height card openings in the back. one is occupied by the 10G NIC
<d1b2> <azonenberg> as of now there are three single slot amd cards in several of the remaining slots
