<ocdtrekkie>
I have finally conquered the uwsgi stack update!
<ocdtrekkie>
That was three sessions of me getting annoyed, but I have a working update now.
<TimMc>
Hmm, the new Etherpad appears to be broken for anonymous users using sharing links.
<ocdtrekkie>
Can you file an issue?
<ocdtrekkie>
Will test it and see if we can get it fixed.
<TimMc>
Mmm, I might be wrong -- it's blank for me too, now. :-/
<TimMc>
I pasted from a web page into it, and it looked fine, but it doesn't show up for anyone else -- and when I reload, it's blank.
<TimMc>
Interestingly, it also allows anonymous users with a view-only sharing link to "edit" (but of course their changes arne't saved).
<TimMc>
I'll try to pin down a repro case.
<ocdtrekkie>
Awesome, thanks.
<TimMc>
It happened when I pasted from an HTML email into Etherpad. I start getting the "Connected" toaster popup every couple seconds, and it stops saving.
<TimMc>
But I'm having trouble reproducing this just by pasting in *parts* of the email.
<TimMc>
Maybe something to do with an image embed.
<TimMc>
(Using undo seems to reconnect!)
<TimMc>
...I don't know if I can repro this. :-/ Pasting either half of the email doesn't trigger it, but pasting the whole thing does!
<ocdtrekkie>
OH! We have an issue for that
<ocdtrekkie>
Very large pastes do not work,
<ocdtrekkie>
Or... we don't have an issue but I remember discussion of it
<TimMc>
Hah.
<TimMc>
10k chars isn't *that* much text.
<ocdtrekkie>
Might be worth putting a fresh issue on the Etherpad repo for it, though I imagine if it was an easy fix it would've been fixed probably? I'm also not sure it was Sandstorm-specific.
<ocdtrekkie>
Might be worth testing it against a demo Etherpad server to see if it's even our fault.
<ocdtrekkie>
Yeah, our apps aren't really subject to being DoS'd by the public, generally speaking, so my guess is it would be a safe customization for us to make.
<ocdtrekkie>
Awesome. Presumably you can still kill it if you paste more than 25 times the previous limit, but hopefully nobody will hit it in practice?
<isd>
Yeah, we have to put the cutoff somewhere. But 10K is already at the point where it takes a few seconds to respond after hitting paste... 250K is approaching the length of a novel
