After trawling through logs and trying out different things, I realised it was firejail! Now it started up (without firejail), and I've configured the basics (email, admin account, etc.), but it seems to have some issues with installing apps. But I'll

15:19 <ocdtrekkie> Sandstorm and Firejail use a lot of the same stuff for sandboxing. it wouldn't shock me if running one inside the other didn't work.
