<LarstiQ> FireFly: hmm, I only have a single external screen at the moment but in that scenario I have no trouble making windows fullscreen on either monitor

<tiosgz> FireFly: i've been getting temporarily frozen screen for about two months(?) now every few days, even without fullscreening or an external screen
<tiosgz> i think it's still the old "atomic commit failed" or what
<FireFly> hmm
<tiosgz> generally the workaround is to cause damage tracking to kick rendering up again (move the cursor over a button or something) or grabbing a screenshot (i used to redirect it to /dev/null when this was more frequent)
<tiosgz> which is also why un-fullscreening works too
<tiosgz> it would be interesting to know if there have been any changes raising the frequency though
<FireFly> no, like, it completely freezes when I fullscreen, and moving mouse doesn't render until I un-fullscreen
<FireFly> it's not just a temporary blip
<FireFly> visually it behaves as if there's no more redrawing to that output essentially
<FireFly> but yeah I'll have to see if it's related to river or some other part
<tiosgz> ah, i haven't seen that happen to me (but i almost never fullscreen anything)
<FireFly> I don't usually do either, which is why it took me a while to notice.. heh

<Tony> Hello there, does anyone have issues with trackpoints? I noticed when I type, I somtimes touch it and it moves my cursor around espeically when I have riverctl focus-follows-cursor always set. This causes me to lose focus on the window and throws off my typing.
<Tony> I set riverctl input "pointer-2-10-TPPS/2_IBM_TrackPoint" disable-while-typing enabled which is my trackpoint, but it seems to do nothing. It still moves while I type, is this to be expected?

<LarstiQ> Tony95: are you sure you've got the spelling right for that device? I've gotten that wrong before
<LarstiQ> Tony95: what does `riverctl list-inputs` say?
<Tony95> keyboard-0-1-Power_Button
<Tony95>     configured: false
<Tony95> keyboard-0-6-Video_Bus
<Tony95>     configured: false
<Tony95> switch-0-5-Lid_Switch
<Tony95>     configured: false
<Tony95> keyboard-0-3-Sleep_Button

<Tony95> pointer-2-10-TPPS/2_IBM_TrackPoint
<Tony95>     configured: true
<Tony95> keyboard-1-1-AT_Translated_Set_2_keyboard
<Tony95>     configured: false
<Tony95> keyboard-6058-20564-ThinkPad_Extra_Buttons
<Tony95>     configured: false
<LarstiQ> pasting is better done with a dedicated service than on irc
<Tony95> Here is what I get back, it appears spelled correctly
<LarstiQ> the synaptics is the touchpad?
<LarstiQ> can you rule out it's the touchpad which moves the mouse?
<Tony95> yessir the synaptics is the touchpad :)
<Tony95> touchpad is ruled out
<Tony95> I have the disable while typing on the synaptics and it works
<Tony95> just does not work on the trackpoint
<LarstiQ> then I'm out of debugging ideas, maybe someone who knows (or is willing to read) river's input handling code could say if there is a chance of a bug
<Tony95> Appreciate it none the less LarstiQ
<Tony95> I'm curious if anyone else with a thinkpad trackpoint could replicate this?

<tiosgz> Tony95: i think this is a limitation coming from libinput or somewhere like that
<tiosgz> disabled-on-external-mouse also works only for the touchpad but not the trackpoint
<tiosgz> i don't know why it's like this though
