Hello! I've been trying out Riverwm with river-bsp-layout, I used to be on bswpm on X11. I'm missing some features and functionality, such as manual tiling (splitting by currently focused window) and swapping the position of tiled windows with a keyboard shortcut. Have I overlooked something or are these limitations of riverwm/river-bsp-layout? Aside from that, I've been enjoying using river so far.

deadcade: You're correct that river does not support manual tiling, there is a riverctl swap command though

Are there any plans to add support for manual tiling? This is one of the last few things that I, a bspwm/x11 user, can't easily find on Wayland.

I've checked the config and I did indeed overlook the swap command, tyvm for telling me it exists

deadcade: I plan to split the compositor and the window manager into two separate processes, which should make it much easier for people to implement the window management behavior they want themselves in a higher level language

I probably wont write a manual tiling window manager myself but I will make at easy as possible for someone else to do so, my main goal is wayland WM hackability and diversity

That's really cool, WM hackability is really missing on Wayland in general, river is certainly filling some gaps there. I'll try seeing what I can do to help once that's all implemented.
