<_________> lechner: 1. you have typo in 'cicle' 2. hc-append doesn't accept list of pics but variable number of arguments, instead of `(hc-append ...)` do `(apply hc-append ...)`

<ennoausberlin> Hello. I wonder if aarch64 is supported again anytime soon. I see there Apple silicon versions, but with the turn to chez based racket, aarch64 seems abandoned

<bremner> ennoausberlin: fwiw, in debian we just build the BC racket on aarch64. I don't know how many users it has, but I haven't had any bug reports
<ennoausberlin> bremner: So is there a possibility to build 8.7 without chez?
<bremner> ah, sorry, still on 8.6
<bremner> that will be a problem for us if not
<bremner> was there some announcement about deprecation of BC racket?
<ennoausberlin> I ask, because on GUIX there is a racket 8.6 package definition and it works on x86 but not on aarch64 telling me aarch64 is not supported.
<bremner> hmm. In 8.6 aarch64 is built for debian. So it might be a guix packaging choice
<leah2> void has racket on aarch64
<ennoausberlin> I might have to provide some configure flags than?
<leah2> we do some magick to build a CS first
<bremner> ennoausberlin: afaik, --enable-bcdefault

<ennoausberlin> I just skimmed over Guix racket.scm and found a package definition for racket-vm-bc. https://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/guix.git/tree/gnu/packages/racket.scm#n390
<ennoausberlin> That might do the trick to replace the cs vm with bc vm on the racket-minimal package definition
<samth> ennoausberlin: aarch64 should be supported already on Racket CS
<samth> ennoausberlin: see https://github.com/racket/ChezScheme which lists it as supported
<bremner> huh. TIL.
<bremner> oh, indeed I misread the debian rules file
<bremner> we also (apparently) build racket-cs for arm64 and armhf
<bremner> I forget exactly what 32 bit arm variant armhf is, other than having hardware float
<leah2> works on armv6 and armv7 for us (we dont do armv5)
<ennoausberlin> samth: So the guix package definition should be adopted to reflect this. I will have a look later this week. That sounds nice. So far I use clisp on my arm machines, because with sbcl and racket I ran into problems. So there is hope.

<samth> ennoausberlin: that's up the the guix maintainers, but if you have trouble building for aarch64, please file a bug report
<leah2> oh 8.7 is tagged now
<leah2> risc-v <3
<leah2> i hope these improvements all go back to chez at some point
