does anyone here use Emacs to write Scribble documents and can tell me whether this https://github.com/emacs-pe/scribble-mode is unmaintained or just finished software?
<dpk>
(that Lisp software is so often just ‘done and dusted’ is nice, but there is also the former category …)
<dpk>
/what else do you recommend for Scribble in Emacs?

okay, test failed successfully with that scribble-mode, seems not to do any sensible indentation. hrmm

dpk: I use scribble-mode, however you are right, the indentation is kinda missing
<dzoe>
For the record though - I use scribble/srcdoc heavily and my .scrbl files are just a bunch @include-extracted, @declare-exporting and a few @sections ...

most distros packaging systems do not have facility for snapshot style releases
<winny>
most do however, have excellent integration for SCM (e.g. git unstable branches)
<winny>
in most systems you basically have to make a *brand* *new* *package* file for each snapshot so it's a lot of upkeep, it's a big ask for any package maintainer
<winny>
there is a tinge of frustration as I've tried to package racket on gentoo from git... it's not really doable
<winny>
I think this may also play into why we had a bunch of wonky release issues that broke various non-mainstraim linux or BSDs.... snapshot releases don't really fit into a packager's workflow
<bremner>
dunno, I'm OK with anything but git submodules
<winny>
same, no issues there, this was awhile ago, i haven't been packaging racket for a year or two
<bremner>
I agree that the disconnect between racket git and racket releases is not ideal from an outsiders/packagers point of view. *shrug* it's not the end of the world.
<winny>
yeah, it really isn't, i'm explaining why nobody will do it
<samth>
winny: the point is not to start regularly packaging snapshot releases, but to try the infrastructure used for packaging individual releases on a current snapshot, because of the changes in the build process
<winny>
ah makes sense, though I wonder if there's a way to give packagers more inclination to test every snapshot
<winny>
this way wonky release issues that are beyond the purview of the core team will be detected before release
<samth>
winny: my sense is that packaging takes some non-zero amount of work for the relevant people and thus it would be hard to motivate them to do it a lot more
