<mmichelson> Hi everyone. Welcome to the weekly OVN developers' meeting.
<amusil> Hi
<mkalcok> o/
<fnordahl> o/
<dceara> Hi
<mmichelson> I'll start off with a quick announcement, just in case you missed my email yesterday. We're moving the branch date for ovn 24.09 by one week, since there are still many reviews that need attention.
<mmichelson> So that means we will be branching on 9 August instead of tomorrow, 2 August.

<mmichelson> The current plan is still to release on schedule, but if that needs to change, I'll make another announcement.
<mmichelson> I'll give a quick personal update: Reviews. Done.
<mmichelson> Who's next?
<mkalcok> I can fo a quick one
<mkalcok> *do
<mmichelson> Oh I should add that I plan to put up a review before the end of the week that I'll be adding documentation about what an "experimental" feature is based on the community call.
<mmichelson> mkalcok, go for it.
<mkalcok> I posted v3 of the BGP mirroring (redirect?) patch with more tests as requested by mmichelson.
<mkalcok> If there's still desire for renaming of this feature, I'm open to it, I'd just ask for suggestions, persnoally I like "redirect".
<mkalcok> and that's all from my side
<_lore_> can I go next? quite fast
<mmichelson> _lore_, give me just a sec, I have a question for mkalcok
<dceara> mkalcok, I think "redirect" is better than "mirroring".
<mmichelson> Did we decide that just fnordahl's BGP patches will be targeted for 25.03? Are yours still candidates for 24.09?
<mmichelson> mkalcok ^
<mkalcok> mmichelson that's the way I understood it from the meeting
<mmichelson> mkalcok Got it, thanks!
<mkalcok> they can stand on their own, and can be usefull for testing/experimenting
<mmichelson> OK that's what I thought.
<mmichelson> _lore_, go right ahead.
<_lore_> this week I worked addressing zhouhan comments on bfd IP patch, I posted v10 addressing comments in v9
<_lore_> zhouhan: I posted v10 upstream
<zhouhan> _lore_, thank you, I am reviewing it
<_lore_> moreover I worked on ecmp_ct monitor series addressig comments from amusil and fixing conflicts
<_lore_> I posted v8 upstream
<_lore_> that's all from my side
<_lore_> thx zhouhan
<mkalcok> dceara thanks for voting :) I think the "redirect" is crowd favorite for now
<fnordahl> +1
<fnordahl> I have a quick update
<mmichelson> Thanks for the update _lore_ . Just so you know, I happen to be reviewing the latest ECMP nexthop series before this meeting started.
<mmichelson> fnordahl, go for it.
<fnordahl> Thanks for the good discussion on the community call on approach to native BGP support for OVN!
<fnordahl> I'm quite busy with an internal sprint this week, but I just posted an e-mail with some follow up from that discussion: https://mail.openvswitch.org/pipermail/ovs-dev/2024-August/416225.html
<fnordahl> Apolgies for not sending it sooner, and I obviously don't expect you to have read it yet.
<fnordahl> That's it for me
<mmichelson> Thanks fnordahl
<mmichelson> Does anyone else have an update.
<mmichelson> ?
<imaximets> May I?
<imaximets> I don't have much OVN-related this week. Did a high-level review of the sampling series, started a few discussions around database schema. That's all from me.
<dceara> I can go next if that's OK.
<mmichelson> Go for it dceara
<mmichelson> (sorry imaximets I didn't respond to your "May I?" in a timely manner)
<imaximets> np :)
<dceara> Worked together with amusil and Adrian on aforementioned sampling series. Sent a few versions. I think we're converging (slowly) to an acceptable version.
<dceara> Did no reviews this week unfortunately. I'll try to pick up more next week.
<dceara> That's it on my side, thanks.
<mmichelson> Thanks dceara
<mmichelson> Any more updates?
<amusil> I have just small one
<amusil> Worked with dceara on the ACL sampling that's about it
<mmichelson> THanks amusil
<mmichelson> anyone else?
<dceara> lots of sampling this week.. dceara sees himself out :D
<imaximets> BTW, your self-acks do not count. :D
<mmichelson> lol
<dceara> I didn't ack any of my patches btw.
<mmichelson> OK, I think that's everyone. Thanks and have a good day.
<mmichelson> bye!
<fnordahl> \o cheers!
<mkalcok> thanks all \o
<amusil> Ty, bye
mkalcok has left #openvswitch [#openvswitch]
<imaximets> Thanks! Bye.
<dceara> imaximets, all those are authored by Ales, I just picked them up because the agreement was that the feature is not acceptable without the optimization.
<_lore_> bye
<imaximets> dceara, sure. But you clearly worked on them together. :P I'm just being nitpicky. Unless you merge them yourself without any other acks, it's fine.
<dceara> I wasn't planning on merging any of those myself. But I can also remove the acks in v6 if this generates distrust.
<dceara> thanks for the meeting everyone, bye!
