I have a NXP i.MX RT1170 EVK, and I've written a tcl script that can attach to the M7, and I've declared the m4 target, but any attempt to examine the m4 just causes openocd to go into an endless loop.

I'll have to muck about with their SDK then. unfortunately the referance manual has gaint glaring holes in some places where the documention for multicore bringup should be (as eximplified by app notes that referance registers that "dont exist"). Anyhow, they have demos labled "multicore", so maybe those can help.
