<PaulFertser>
zapb__: I changed the CSS to make it friendlier to narrow screens, commit pushed, new css uploaded to SF.net, pending caching update. ATM I'd say all the annoyances fixed.
<PaulFertser>
Basically I changed width to max-width where appropriate and tested with a small browser window, I'd say it's ok.
<PaulFertser>
And changed the top menu a bit, now it's not left-align but the container auto-adjusts to its size, so height no longer hardcoded.
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, but it still is not mobile friendly right?
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: I'm not sure what exactly mobile friendly means. I made a rather narrow browser window and it was still readable and didn't require horizontal scrolling.
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, the entire page is scaled down instead of moving around element, e.g., use a popup menu instead of having all menu items at top and you need to scroll down 3 pages to get to the content
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: isn't making a chromium window the size of a small smartphone (such as iphone6se, idk) providing same experience as you would expect on mobile?
<PaulFertser>
I do not like popup menus.
<PaulFertser>
I just tried 395x374 size window, the content starts on the 3rd page (so I press PgDn twice to get to the start of it), and all the important links at the beginning are visible and accessible after the first press.
<PaulFertser>
For the reference, that's with 96/97 DPI.
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, it's not about popup or not. a mobile version should arrange the page such that it can be used easy on smaller display sizes (for example see https://getnikola.com/ on normal window sizes and mobile)
<zapb__>
I have no other example at the moment but almost every page nowadays uses a slightly different version in mobile to be more usable
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: isn't my experiment with 395x374 small enough?
<zapb__>
not saying that that's the most important thing but it's a bit unfortunate that we don't have this with our new page
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, it's almost unreadable on my smartphone
<zapb__>
font is too small for the menu, for example
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: the new CSS or the one served by SF.net? The font size in the theme is specified in "em" so it depends on the default font size in the web browser, how come your browser shows it too small then?
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, maybe still cached I don't know
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: still cached, I do know, I updated it just an hour ago. But I didn't do anything with the font size. Probably your web browser scales it all down to avoid horizontal scrolling and so after my width->max_width change it'll start using normal font size too?
<PaulFertser>
No matter how small I make chromium window here on Debian it doesn't affect the font size.
<PaulFertser>
And CSS specifies all font sizes in "em" so it respects your end-user choices regarding the fonts.
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, not sure. on my desktop browser nothing happens when I use a small window size. I have to scroll to the right to see all menu items
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: yes, and that I changed
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, hm, both results are on openocd.org with desktop and mobile
<zapb__>
Either it scales down the font size or nothing changes -> local cache?
<borneoa_>
With my Android phone I have small fonts in the tabs BugTracker, Discussion and IRC. The other tabs are ok. But let's wait for the css update.
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: openocd.org I can't update CSS properly, the SF.net caching makes it impossible, we need to wait for 24 hours to see the CSS update I made.
<PaulFertser>
Unless you can make it not request the gzip version.
<PaulFertser>
Intalling modheader they say... no thanks
<borneoa_>
But something changes don't size while swapping from portrait to landscape
<PaulFertser>
I do not see absolute font size specifications at all, so it's your web browser I guess.
<PaulFertser>
Let's wait till the next morning and see.

<zapb__>
PaulFertser, thanks, looks like you described on desktop but still scaled on mobile
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: I'd blame the mobile browser :)
<PaulFertser>
Seriously, wtf does it think it should scale everything down?
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, I would say works with 99.9 % of all websites? ;)
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: I do not use any mobile browsers so have no personal experience.
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, but people do, believe me :D
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: if you have any idea how to ask the mobile browser to just display it all the normal way, without scaling, I'm ready to try.
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, I'm not that much in html+css and IMO we shouldn't spend too much time into this. that's why I suggested to use a generator / template / whatever that does all this crap for us
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: I had no idea pelican's default theme was crap :/
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: but this specific issue with scaling should be trivial to fix, takes a minute for a frontend dev...
<PaulFertser>
ffs
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, no finger pointing ;D
<zapb__>
Btw, I would remove the "supported jtag interface" menu
<zapb__>
1. jtag, 2. interface, 3. it just points to the docs :D
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: I would probably make a link to the tcl/interfaces and called it "supported debug adapters"
<PaulFertser>
But something like that is certainly what people would want.
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, then I would prefer a static page with a list of all supported debug adapters
<PaulFertser>
zapb__: how would we be updating it?
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, if you want it automatically, hmm.. running OpenOCD with "adapter list"? :)
thinkfat has joined #openocd
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, the other idea would be that we update the page (-> Git repo) together with new adapter patches

<PaulFertser>
zapb__: http://paulfertser.info/openocdblog/output/ updated with one tweak which should make your mobile browser believe the site is not to scale and show it in a saner way.
<zapb__>
PaulFertser, looks way better now!
<zapb__>
I would add some margin on the left and right side
