<Et7f3 (@me on reply)> Suppose you use clang do a copy so you have ${arch}-clang (maybe you would need triplet instead of just arch). Then do the procedure of creating a cross compiler to the said arch but you lie to configure by giving ${arch}-clang and configure will think it is a real cross compiler.

i'm posing now a question despite the OS is not officially supported. I found an OCaml 4.07 port for 9front. Now I want to port opam. From what I see: 1. I have to get, patch, build and install the dependencies 2. I have to build the rest of the code. I don't see any C or platform specific code. It seems quite platform independent, but want to ask for a second opinion not to find myself spending 30 days with no avail
<octachron>
I wouldn't start with OCaml 4.07: dune requires a working 4.08.0 compiler.
<octachron>
(or later)
<kitzman>
I'd have to port 4.08 then. Shouldn't be too hard, it has a "runetime" directory which requires makefiles and headers.
<kitzman>
Shouldn't 4.07 work with an older dune and opam?
<octachron>
It would work (with dune 1.6, I think), but it is not clear which part of the ecosystem is compatible with old version of dune.
<octachron>
Part of the issue is that the dune can be installed on switches with older version of ocaml, but it does so by building its own "secondary-ocaml-compiler".
<octachron>
So from the point of view of opam packages relying on recent version of dune does not create a dependency on recent version of OCaml ... but only on systems where a 4.08.0 compiler can be built.
